You need to find out specifically from your bank for your debit card and your credit card company for your cards, IF they charge ANY fees for using your card internationally.

A good number of companies are now charging a 3% fee. AMEX does not.

For a week we travel with $200 cash in small denominations for mostly taxis and tips. Comes in handy for other incidentals as well.

The pool @ Gold Coast Aruba, Holiday Inn Casino, Arashi Beach, Sunset @ California Lighthouse, Baby Beach, Our friends hotels/timeshares when they are on the Island at the same time as us
I always bring several hundred in cash for random expenses.... Plus Aruba has casinos, so I need $$$ for that!

I don't remeber getting charged a surcharge in many restaurants when using my Visa or MC. Most of the restaurants we ate at quoted prices in USD not AFL.

In Europe when staying at Marriotts - they typically give you the option of paying in local currency or USD.

The Marriotts in Aruba quote their rates in USD and thats what they charge.
