    Events..Birthdays/Weddings/Anniversaries/Funerals/Holidays ?

What special events/holidays have you participated/celebrated in Aruba?

Over the years, we have celebrated 3 Christmas holidays, 3 New Years Eves, a few Easters, one Thanksgiving, numerous wedding anniversaries, numerous birthdays, a funeral mass and a wedding.

Thanksgiving is a tradition for us. It's my favorite time to be in Aruba and makes for a relaxed holiday. We've gone to celebrate anniversaries and our retirement but the most important trip was the one we took when Tom was 7 months post-transplant. That's when we knew our lives were getting back to normal!

My birthday, every year, at Carte Blanche.

We're down during Canadian Thanksgiving for the first time this year. This consists of margaritas, some sort of turkey part and the inevitable attempt to speak French about le beau soleil... I pray to the Thanksgiving gods that we can find Yukon Gold potatoes at Superfood or Ling's or there'll be aitch elle double hockey sticks to pay if the Cook's Illustrated creamy mashed potatoes aren't on the dinner table.

The Spouse's birthday is in February but we've never been able to swing a trip down on the exact day - but a trip to Carte Blanche is being demanded anyway this year. "The Month Long Festival of My Birthday" as it's now referred to.

We wanted to go down for Xmas and New Year's this year but the flights were ridiculously expensive unless we flew in really early in December and flew home later in January - we'll save the holidays for when we're down for six months of the year.

Our wedding anniversary is in June so I doubt we'll ever do that in Aruba.

And we've now made it an annual tradition to inevitably miss Carnival by one day.

Been for DS and DD's birthdays, anniversary and of course my birthday. We try, but just can't seem to make it for DW's birthday. We spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and other big holidays here at home with family and friends...

We have celebrated our delayed honeymoon, my birthday, and this year will be Thanksgiving and our 5th anniversary. All special memories. I can see Aruba being our special occasion place for many years to come. We considered a vow renewal since we eloped and we want a reason for ftiends and family to join us, but instead we decided on something that won't involve as much planning. We will be doing a group trip for my 40th bday in 2017 and we already are trying to get friends planning and saving for it.

We have been in Aruba during Carnival, Queens Day, and Aruba Labor Day....all exciting! Seeing the people of Aruba enjoying their holidays gave me a warm and happy feeling.

    None! lol

Actually we've gone down for a wedding and renewed our vows on the beach but other than that we haven't been for any family holiday or legal holiday or carnival - nothing. Of course we have always scheduled around the kids' school schedules so it' always been July or August, except for our honeymoon in October.

After bouncing dates around with weeks in the summer, we've finally settled on the first week of July. And that's our annual anniversary celebration with dinner at Mme J's on the evening of our first full day in Aruba..... even tho the real date is in August.
