Felix - not so scary! Happy!!!
Good afternoon friends,
As you saw, I promised, but did not get the updates to you on the board, as I was running after information for AP (they combined info from their own, other writers and gave us good updates)
Once again I confirm how much I love my island and my people. We learn our lessons fast, we help each other selflessly (spell check?), regardless of an ever changing and growing population we love our neighbors even more than ourselves and the safety and comfort of our visitors are our number one priority!
Felix left us some rain and very rough seas, little damage (some fallen trees because of ground saturation mostly, those poor Kwihi), a few houses flooded (they were helped promptly), some challenges with some boats at the nautical club because of changing conditions and very very rough seas!!!
I stood in the porch and watched the sky a few times and thanked God for blessing us so richly.
A brochure on hurricanes distributed to all homes helped many people get prepared - we always get prepared for the season before that - my grandmother from St. Barth's taught us well. The hotels were efficient, staff was very caring (although worried to death for their own families at home) and the disaster action team was always reachable for information and updates, while the press kept people informed, everyone stayed off the streets and minimized the risks of injuries and challenges.
While the people did their bit, nature showed us once again how fortunate we are and spared us major damages, injuries and casualties.
THANK YOU FOR CARING, BUT ESPECIALLY THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND PRAYERS!!! HUGS FOR EVERYONE.
If I got too "mushy" let me know...
Good health, many happy returns to Aruba!
Margaret
