    First thing...

    Hello,

Just curious, once we all get out of the airpot in Aruba what is the first thing you do to start your vacation? The relaxing stuff that starts to put you in the "i'm in paradise" mindset.
My wife and I get to the resort, drop our luggage in our room, don our swimsuits and off to the hot tub and pool for a drink, any drink. We find this the quickest way to releive all the stress and grind of daily life back in Connecticut. (Always remembering we can go back home to family and friends in the end).
Once loose and a smile to boot I'm ready for slow speed.

    Thanks,

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Good morning Sean,

Travelling to Aruba from Winnipeg is usually a whole day's travel,. It's usually about 4:00pm by the time we are in the room; so nodding off on a chaisse lounge by the pool at The Mill, catching the sun's last few rays are how we spend the first hour or two.

This year is going to be different as it will be a late arrival on a Friday night; not getting into Aruba until 9:00pm or so; just awkward connections.

The real holiday will start on Saturday morning. Relax, sun, eat, shop. (That's for me. For my wife the order is simpler; shop, shop, shop, relax, shop)

    Bye for now,

    Glenn

Hi, coming from Boston we usually get to the airport by noon time so it's perfect. After checking in at LaCabana, we get our bathing suits on and head to the pool for cocktails to unwind from our flight. We usually stay there for the remainder of the day taking in as much of the Aruban fresh air as possible and believe me, coming from Boston this is a real treat. Once the sun goes down is when we finally head back to our room and unpack - although I usually can't sleep because I'm so excited I'm there!!

    Hi Sean V:

We like to arrange an early flight, if possible, and keep our carry-on packed with bathing suits; grab either our rental car..or a cab...and immediately upon arrival at the hotel...usually the room is not ready...if we are early...we changed in the public bathrooms and go immediately to the beach and enjoy the wonderful "Aruba Sun" and cooling trade winds. Have fun.

Coming from San Francisco, I always take a red eye flight so I can get there in the mid morning and start enjoying the warm weather, the smiles of the people, and the water to cool me off. I do think you personally have to have the mind set as soon as you get on the plane, I am on vacation in beautiful Aruba and nothing will bother me, and believe me it works. I have been to Aruba so many times, what also helps me is having personally get picked up by friends and there wonderful smiles, some of them work for the De Palm Tours, which is the bus transfer from the airport, and if you want a beautiful person with the island spirit, ask for Howard.

We always leave the airport, check into lacabana brc, get into the unit, put the groceries away and take a nap..........

what a boring pair we are.

then a few hrs later after we shower, dress and go to dinner and hit a casino.

imo, day one, the travel day is horribly exhausting for us and we really do collapse once we get settled in.

day two and on..........we do what all of you do...........hit the beach and pools early in the morning and vegetate there for the entire day.

Sean V.... With an 8am from Boston, we're usually at the hotel just before 2, then it's a race to dump the luggage, change into swim suits and get into the pool (closer than the beach), then into the ocean and then to the bar for the Aruba Ariba that cements the deal! At that point it's official vacation time!

We usually arrive around 4 pm from Canada and might stop at Lings for a couple of things and then to the AM.
We have our bathing suits and shorts in our carry and change immediately. My wife may unpack a bit while I get ice and sort out a couple of things.
Then it is "Bright" time on the patio and walk over to the beach to see what they have improved while we away.
After dinner we will open a bottle of wine or Champagne and relax and wait for the security guard to bring the "NEWS" and find out what is new from him.
