    Hi to ALL from Italy,
    next week I'll be on this fantastic island, which is very hard place to reach by car (no jeep, no atv)?

    thanks!

    We have always rented a vehicle to drive around the island. It's not that big, so you can't get lost. There is a saying that you can follow the way the Divi trees are pointing, as they point toward the high rises.

    Many people will tell you to not over-schedule. The beach is awesome. When scheduling, we often schedule a day downtown about day 3 or 4 as we pale northerners need a respite from the sun at that point.

    We debated a day at Renaissance, but for the cost, we decided to use our money elsewhere. The price did not include food/beverage and you are not allowed to take your own food/drink. You are forced to purchase from them. We did enjoy DePalm for the day with our kids last year. We are considering it again (just the two of us are going this year) as there is a quiet adult section and their price includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks and as much snorkeling as you'd like.

    the KEY to getting out on the private island is this;
    rent a room for one night
    check in early day 1
    get your room key( boat key) head out to island
    next day, day 2, check out, store luggage and hit the island again

    Hence no $ 99 fee per person
    the pizza on the private is cheap and good
    drinks are cheap

    4x tickets to DePalm is more than 1 nite at the Renn....

    Still debating doing a SPA deal that does include access to the island...we'll see how the week goes. Seeing the flamingoes would be pretty amazing.

    Just booked 2 seats on the Black Pearl after reading all the good reviews here....looking forward to it....that does book insanely fast lol.
