We've enjoyed the sunset cruise on the MiDushi & have gone on it several times. We love Madame Janette's for dinner, but are trying Mirandi for the first time next week & are looking forward to it as we've heard good things about it. (Romantic, great food, etc. - we'll do that on a day when we rent a car though because it's a bit of a drive - expensive cab fare - to get there from the highrise area). ENJOY! (sorry, can't help w/any of the other things

My favorite restauants are:

Mirandi-near airport
Yemanji Woodfired Grill- downtown
Que Pasa-downtown

There are other fine restaurants as well.

see www.restaurantsaruba.com for ratings, comments, websites, etc. You can usually make reservations online.

1) Using scooters to travel around the island

My opinion and mine only. Take the time to read
April 16 2010 - Sad Day in Aruba

We have taken an ATV tour and enjoyed it immensely, but I would be very leery of heading out on my own, assuming this is your first trip to the island, on unfamiliar roads.

I have to add,
I do not recommend scooters at all. Between the condition of the roads (think bad pot holes) and your safety amongst the drivers (of the cars), and various animals, your life is more important.

For a first time visitor, stick with an organized tour. At least this way you get the history of the island and will know what you are seeing. If you are not into being with a group, tours can be booked privately. A guided jeep tour will give you all the highlights there are to see on the island.

Granted, a motor scooter is not an ATV, but which is more stable on the road

Lots of great ideas:

If you had to pick three

#1 Restaurant-What do you think?

Ok how about a top 10 restaurant list

www.aruba.com/forum/f12/ok-how-about-top-10-restaurant-list-36837/

Book Passions as soon as your plans are firm. They have limited seating so book up quickly and WELL in advance. One of our forum members almost got shut out for her last visit in June.

Our personal favorites include, in no particular order:
  • Passions
  • Screaming Eagle
  • Windows on Aruba
  • Marina Pirata
  • Chefs Table
  • Sunset Grille

The above are all owned by same folks so you may want to mix in a few other owners.. IMHO with 3 dinners I would also highly recommend Mirandi for the food and local (deck over the water), Passions for good food with the sand in your toes and Screaming Eagle (owned by the Flying Fishbone folks).

Congratulations on your 40th!

With such wonderful advice from Arubalisa and Andrea, as well as other members of the forum; you don't need more. These people have wonderful suggestions and information right at their finger tips; as well as personal experience.

Again, have an absolutely wonderful 40th...you have definitely chosen "Paradise" aka "One Happy Island," and it is a wise choice.
