First trip to Aruba

Hi,
My husband and I are planning to visit Aruba in the 2nd and 3rd week of October this year. What are the odds of a hurricane or tropical storm hitting Aruba around this time of the year? This is our first trip to Aruba, so just a little concerned.

Also, we plan to stay at the Divi Aruba- Oceanview. Any suggestions for good clubs or night life close to the Divi??
Thanks for your input!!

Haven't stayed at the Divi, but have toured it and a few other resorts in the low-rise area. Best recollection is that the Alhambra Casino is within walking distance, but nothing much else as far as night life. You would have to go into town (a couple of miles) or the high-rise section (again a couple of miles). I do believe that each hotel has some entertainment most nights of the week. It all depends what you are looking for.
Good luck, and enjoy your stay. We will be returning in Dec. for our 8th visit in 7 years.

We always stay Oceanview at the Divi. (Vista 2, second floor, high numbers. )Book reservations at the Red Parrot and at the Tam, at Ginger and Paparazzi. Matthews is next door, if you want to eat offsite. This is a close walk from the Divi. Alhambra Casino is across the street. Sometimes there is a band. The Divi and Tam have shows and music every night. Other than that, you would have to go into town or up to the High-Rise area for action.

Regarding the weather in October - I wouldn't worry. Aruba's rainy season is usually November/early December. Rainy meaning an hour or so of rain. I've NEVER experienced an all day wash out in our 5 visits there. I'm sure you've also heard that since Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt, the odds are very high that it won't be affected by a hurricane. People have been posting regarding the current weather with Hurricane Dean passing near Aruba, and I've read there have been some thunder storms and the sun is trying to peek out today. There were also some pretty high waves.

Have a great time!
