The free wi-fi at the Holiday Inn worked great in the room, balcony, lobby and on the beach.

Thanks for trying to bring me up to speed. I get the portable wireless router reference. It now all makes sense to me, well at least I kinda get it, lol.

You can use your phone to connect all your devices to the Internet - it's like having a portable wireless router.

In Aruba, you just get a SIM card from one of the local providers (SETAR, Digicel), purchase a data plan, plunk it into your unlocked phone, change one setting on the phone and you now have Internet that you can connect to no matter where you are.

The performance of the mobile (LTE) network in Aruba (SETAR in our experience) has been a lot more consistent and, at times, faster than our land-line SETAR cable Internet connection.

I've stayed at Caribbean Palm Village, Coconut Inn, and La Cabana Beach Resort and Casino. All three provided free WiFi, the connection at CPV tended to be a bit spotty due to usage at certain times during the day, but it was still good. The signal at LCBRC was also spotty, but when it worked it was in top form. I overheard one of the receptionists telling a guest that they were in the early stages of improving the signal strength to the rooms.

The Links at Divi Beach and Golf used to charge, I think, $35/week for a spotty service. Due to numerous complaints about the cost, the resort offered the service for free starting about 3~4 years ago. Well, the old saw is true: 'You get what you pay for.' The free service was exasperatingly spotty. We have since used MiO and are very pleased with that service.

WiFi in the rooms at the Tropicana wasn't the greatest.. down by the pool and lobby wasn't bad and that was free.
You can buy the package for $35.00 per week per device.

The Tamarijn was free our last visit in Feb/Mar, but the reception was poor other than by the lobby and the pool area. Worked great for us we'd check email, etc quick while we were up for breakfast and maybe later in the day before dinner. My understanding was they were going to make improvements but I would not expect anything better anytime soon.

I ditto Liz's comment that the wifi at the Hol Inn works great. I think they limited it to a certain number of devices per room, however. Can't remember what that was, but I recall that the 4 of us had to take turns. I never got a turn

They limit it to 4 devices, we had to connect and disconnect between 2 phones, 2 tablets and 2 laptops, but it wasn't difficult. The signal was great in both rooms we had this trip.
