Groccery Stores

Hello All,

I am new to the board and will be traveling to Aruba in late August. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree for 7 days. The day that we arrive, we decided that it would be a good idea to go and do some mild grocery shopping since the hotel offers mini refrigerators (Possibly for some snacks and lunch items for sandwiches, etc.) since we will not do all inclusive. Does anyone know how far the closest real grocery store (not market) is to Palm Beach? And can we get there by bus? Thanks,

Re: Groccery Stores

It is the IGA, Ling and sons. A great grocery store. Bus goes to the corner and it is a short walk up to the store. There are others right near IGA. May want to take a cab back, why not rent a car.

Yes the IGA on the left hand side of the main road on your way to town, It is setback, just ask the bus driver. It is a great market with everything you need. We have been going to Aruba for 10 yrs now, and thewir supermarkets are really great. It is 1 stop shopping. Just like home. Have fun and enjoy.

LING'S GROCERY IS GREAT. NOT SURE ABOUT A BUS, BUT ABOUT A 10 MINUTE RIDE FROM HIGH RISE. ANY CAB CAN GET YOU THERE. THEY HAVE A GREAT SELECTION OF ALMOST EVERYTHING FROM CHEESE TO BOOZE.

It is very close...a short 10 minute drive right before you get into Oranjestad. And yes buses take you right around there. It is a very large supermarket...not a tiny market

Re: Groccery Stores

Dear Shannon,

You can catch the bus from the Holiday Inn to Ling & Sons, Certified and Super Foods, they are all in the same area, about 10 minutes away from the hotel. These are all supermarkets just like back here in the USA. Their set-up is pretty much the same with fresh produce, canned goods, meats & deli, bakery, dairy, etc. You can pay with credit card and there is no sales tax on the groceries. You can either take the bus back or catch a cab.
Enjoy your trip!

Re: Groccery Stores

The bus stops directly at Certified market. This is the market we have usually used. We find the prices at Certified to be lower than the other two markets. If you use the Visit Aruba card you will get a discount.

Ling and Sons is a bit of a walk from the bus stop but it is very nice - new, clean.

In either place if you take the bus down you might want to take a cab back. They'll be glad to call one for you.
