No one wanted to you to feel left out from Virginia's quake and now the Hurricane.

Your first time? Pretty exciting eh?

Centered off of northeast coast

Felt the rumble in Savaneta. Shack was shaking for about 2 seconds. Stray cat, "Tux," a little freaked out. He ate all his food and went to hide.

Still, plenty of sunshine, plenty of breeze.

Bon dia.

Wow, why after a few days , would it be there, I certainly hope they have avoided any affects of these Irene, I personally am not looking forward to whatever may happen here, the news as us all in a tither. Park cars on high grounds, should at least have our cars 1/2 full, 1/2 the roads ( Pkwy - south mostly closed.) Most all resturants are closed. I can go on & on, however, hoping all this turns out to be not 1/2 as bad as they're making it

earthquake not hurricane

kath
it was an earthquake here on aruba.
small...miniscule...lasted maybe 5 seconds.

the only effects "irene" had on the island were
- sucked away trade winds
- messed up many travel plans due to flight cancellations
- hurt already a slow season/slow restaurant businesses and lots of hotel vacancy due to passengers having to cancel.

Glad that the earthquake there did little damage other than jitters and, as the song says, "A lot of shaking going on." We here in N. Virginia had our bit of excitement from our 5.8 with the followup of 4.5 aftershocks. Irene was, in the main, kind to us with very little damage; lots of roads closed because of trees down, and power outages in neighboring Village of Great Falls. Fortunately, we did not lose our electricity. We are thankful.

It is sunny and warm now...the winds and rains have left us.

Hope all those people further North...i.e., New England and New York, etc., as well as our Canadian friends, are safe and have very little damage. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
