We will be going to Aruba for our third trip in Oct. this year we will be staying at the Aruba Resort and Spa. Any information, thoughts, suggestions, pros cons, that anyone can offer would be appreciated. We will be taking our 10 year old son with us.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Aruba Resort and Spa

Stayed there last year when it was still a Wyndham, that was our 4th time at the resort. The first time, we too took our 10 yr old son. It is great for kids, has a good pool area, beach water is calm & there are a lot of activities at the pool as well as water sports on the beach (for a fee). Restaurants are very good, be sure when checking in to ask for the breakfast for your child also, most packages say that the breakfast is for 2 adults per room, but when checking in, I've never had a problem, matter of fact, last year my son traveled with a friend and they gave both of them the breakfast buffet. Rooms need some updating, but still okay. Standard size, unless you get a suite, worth the extra $$ for me.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Aruba Resort and Spa

My husband and I just just got back from the Aruba Spa & Casino Hotel this week. Stayed a week and did the all-inclusive plan. If it's your 1st time, I'd not go with the all-inclusive because there are way too many awlsome restaurants to dine around. On the other hand if you are a big drinker then it's cool cause it covers all your drinks and meals. Pago Pago and Blossoms (restaurants in the hotel) were fantastic!! You do need reservations for those 2 restaurants. Cafe Baci, Greenhouse Restaurant and the Terrace Deck you do not need reservations. We stayed on the 16th floor and had a pool/ocean view. Rooms could use alittle updating but they were very clean. Casino stunk. No payouts the entire week I was there. Dropped alot of money. Pros: poolside workers come around daily and give out skewers of fresh fruit, cold towels and the spritz you to cool off. Bartenders are great, are drinks were not watered down. Try the green Iguana!!! Enjoy......

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Aruba Resort and Spa

Have been there to many times to count. This is the old Concord, and most recently the Wyndham. It is soon to be a Westin resort after renovations and some added improvements. If you are a drinker acquire the beverage package for around $50 a day. As stated before to many other great restaurants on the island. Blossoms is fantastic though I must say. The staff is great, from the bellman, front desk clerks to ALL the bartenders. Ask for an even side room for view of pool and downtown. Otherwise, you will see construction of old Aruba Grand. Enjoy.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Aruba Resort and Spa

Stayed there 4 times over the last six years, when it was a Wyndham. Always enjoyed ourselves. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating. Met some of the "top staff" and developed a friendship that helped us get free double upgrades, and once even a new mattress - within an hour of request. All restaurants in the hotel are good; but there are so many great restaurants on the island you shouldn't limit yourself to one hotel. We always got the breakfast buffet plan, and it worked for us. As someone suggested, if you are a drinker, their beverage plan could prove economical for you. The beach is great, except when the breezes get a little too strong. Was told it is more windy here because of the structure of the building. So, we just moved over to the pool. They also have a dinner show 5 nites a week; we found it good - but loud. They do have a "kid's club", but don't know what it's like.
Say Hi to Jander (pronounced Yander), the activities director around the beach and pool; from Nancy & Paul from Boston. He will treat you right.
Oh, and do take in their weekly barbeque and show in the palapa.
