Help me get Beer to Aruba!

We just got back from our 5th trip to Aruba. Love everything except the lack of craft beer from the States. I enjoy primarily IPA's (Indian Pale Ales) and there is none in existence. I am looking to put two cases of canned IPA beer in one or two dedicated suitcases or coolers and take as our 2nd bags.

The extra baggage fees should not make these four cases much more expensive than beer at Ling's. Worth the extra $!

    Any other thoughts/suggestions?

    Signed,

    Thirsty in PA.

thoughts are...........the duty at aruba customs......i do not know the amount you'd be charged for bringing in excess of your allowable free limit. might not be worth it.

Well, there are two of us, so 6 liters allowable. 4 cases is 34 liters, so a charge on 28 liters would be imposed. Is it 10% of the value?

$128 - 4 cases of IPA @ $32 per case in the US
$80 - 2 check in bags @ $40 each (assuming weight is okay @2 per bag)
    $12 - rough 10% of dutiable beer
    ------
    $220

If 10% is correct, the cost per case is $220/4=$55.

So if my assumptions are correct, that is only slighty more than a case at Lings.

I really don't have a problem... it is fully under control. Here is a tip - Don't get a taste for specific types of craft beer. One becomes a beer snob/diva.

(Oh by the way, that amount was for our TWO week trip)

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    I agree, great thread

    Beer snob/diva? Ooookay.

In my opinion, and that's all it is, no matter where you are in the world, (including Aruba) and especially if spicy food is involved, you can always count on the Heineken fire department! Works for me.
