I love the beach (who doesn't?), anywhere that I can snorkel, The Donkey Sanctuary (much to the dismay of my daughter), the lighthouse.

I never would have guessed that a bottle of beer weighs one pound.

We were concerned that my father-in-law would not be happy with the beer selection. He got over it quickly once he got a glimpse of the Caribbean sea!

Best of luck with your invention!

This has been a fun thread to follow.

Aruba customs finally got back with me today and the excise and duty fees are a tad higher than expected. See final cost analysis:

$128 - 4 cases of IPA @ $32 per case in the US
$80 - 2 check in bags @ $40 each (assuming weight is okay @2 per bag)
    $83 - Excise/Duty - confirmed by Aruba Customs
    ------
    $291

This now works out to $72.75 per case..... Grrrrr.

(some of you may think this is a final deterrent to me proceeding.... HA!)

ArubaLisa - Here is the detail from email response:

    Dear Mr. Haines,

If you bringing in 34 liters of beer, the Customs at the Airport will charge you in Arubian currency Awg.147.22 which is in dollars $84.13 for excise and import duty. ( Excise on beer is Awg. 353,00 for 1 HL and import duty on beer is Awg. 80,00 for HL).(1 US dollar is Awg. 1.75 ).

    Best Regards,

So they are using "HL's" as the measurement, which when I looked it up is 100 liters? Or am I missing something

If your IPA is going to help you enjoy your vacation more, I would just go ahead and do it and not look back.

OK.... T-Minus 10 days til the big beer smuggle. I have beer selected (Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA), in 16oz cans. Each weigh 1lb. I ordered a softsided 50can cooler that weighs 4lbs. Will be packing 44 cans with foam padding and air sealed in large vacuum sealed space bag. This will limit movement and protect.

Those on the island Oct 15-29th. If you see any breaking news of a US man apprehended in customs.... Just me supporting my diva beer taste. )
