Help with some gen. costs of living

If things go well this week I will probably be heading for Aruba for 6 to 8 months for a construciton job. Is there any site I can go to to check basic food costs at a supermarket? How much for a loaf of bread, dozen eggs, etc. ? If there is anything someone might send to me, I would be greatfull, (and owe ya a lunch).

thanks Bob

Re: Help with some gen. costs of living

Bob - I don't think you'll find any pricing on the supermarket websites. We found the prices of food to be pretty comparable to the US (more east/west coast pricing).
Unfortunatley, I don't have my receipts any longer from our trip to Aruba last week, but with 2 6-packs of beer, 1 bottle of liquor, cheeses, salami, crackers, apples, tonic, limes and other snack type foods, our bill was about $80 U.S.
(Keep in mind while shopping that the markets price in Florins, not U.S. Your price is about 1/2 of what is posted)

Good luck to ya!

Re: Help with some gen. costs of living

Bob, we spend 3 months in Aruba each year. The prices there are comparable to the US prices. Lings is a very nice super market, clean and neat. The people who work there speak English also. The carry most American brands and their meatsare as good as here. T ry their roasted chicken, very delicious!! The restock on Wednesday afternoon (late in the day). You can also bring frozen meats and poultry into the country1 Enjoy your stay and hope you get the job!!
