    Hi Everyone!!

Sorry I have not been around its been a hell of a year for me and the family. As you know after last Novenmbers Aruba trip we returned to find out my son had juv diabetes. It was very tough but we are doing fine with everything now. My son is a trooper and has been fantastic with his changes. February rolls around and we found out my Mom had cancer, stage 4. Unreal!! Then April I had to put my dog Jake to sleep. In may we moved to a new house in Manasquan NJ but couldnt even enjoy what was supposed to be an exciting time with all the crap going on. So a few months go by and on 9/11 my mom passed away. Needless to say we will not be traveling to Aruba this year, it actually might be a while since this was our family trip every year. It's just not going to be the same. Then to wrap things up we get hit with hurricane sandy then a week later a nor easter. Anyway, at least we are all safe and no real damage to our house although a few blocks away it looks like a war zone so maybe Mom was looking out for us.

I am sorry for posting such a depressing post but just wanted to let you all know I have been thinking of you. I have been doing my best to stay focused and positive for my family. I have my good days nd my bad days. Now you can understand why I just want this year to be over with.

Please have a Balashi for me! Actually several! :-)

Be well and have a great holiday season. Spend time with your loved ones. Things can change when you least expect it.

So sorry to hear all of that Mark. Yipes - makes me count my blessings. Your son is a trooper. I know it isn't easy. My son was diagnosed almost 10 years ago. He was a bit older than your son. He's now 23, just graduated from college, working full-time (yippee). It hasn't always been easy, but it's doable. As he said to me the day he was being released from Children's Hospital - it could be worse. He had seen a lot his few days at Children's! Sorry to hear about your mom. As I've said to the others here who have recently lost their mom, it's hard. But remember all the memories you have of her and yes, they do watch over you even when they are gone from this earth. Best of luck to you and your family. I hope you get back to Aruba someday soon. In the meantime, check in here once in awhile - it helps - and hugs those little ones. That's what it's all about. Best wishes for holiday season and especially the new year!!

Mark- you could not have expressed it any better than this. I hope the holidays and 2013 bring happiness to you and your family and glad to hear you made it through the storms. Other than the inconvenience of no electricity we did ok here in Livingston. Stay Jersey Strong!

Arubamark, Prayers and good thoughts to you and your family. Tough year for you.

You, too, enjoy the holiday with your loved ones and cherish the great memories you have of your Mom and, of course, your dog, Jake.
