History of Relationship of Lacabana BRC and Villas/Aruban

LaCabana BRC (owned by its owners association) and LaCabana Villas (owned by Playa Blanca NV which also owned the Royal Cabana Casino Bulding) were both developed by the same developer, Louis Mansur. Mr. Mansur also formed a corporation by the name of Casa Grande NV which originally managed the Royal Cabana Casino, LaCabana BRC and LaCabana Villas. A second management company was developed called OHEM which was given the management rights of LaCabana BRC and LaCabana Villas by Casa Grande NV. The LaCabana BRC board never ratified the management contract change from Casa Grande NV to OHEM.

In the fall of 2005, Casa Grande NV bounced a check for casino rent to LaCabana BRC. That bounced check and other debts forced Casa Grande NV into bankruptcy. The bankruptcy resulted in a termination of the management contract with Casa Grande NV. Since the BRC had never ratified the managerial rights from Casa Grande NV to OHEM, OHEM was ordered off the resort property by an Aruban court decision on Nov 23, 2005.

The BRC Board of Directors stepped in and took over the property. By Dec 1, 2005 BlueGreen Property Management was hired to oversee the day to day operations and provide consulting services to the BOD. BlueGreen Property Management is still functioning in that role today.

Playa Blanca NV went into bankruptcy about five or six years ago. The bankruptcy sold the property in June 2007 to KL International. KL International is the current owner.

The properties always were separate legal entities.

lacabana beach and racquet club is OPEN
Aruban, formerly known as Villas CLOSED.

Now, re: the tennis courts..................i have no idea if they are open. I think, and i may be wrong, that the tennis pro on site was/is an independent contractor. The tennis courts are located on the southern end of the property in between the aruban and lacabana brc.

The Aruban

Hi, I am new to the board but have been reading for several years. We have been going to Aruba for over 10 years and love it.
My question is, are you sure about the Aruban being closed? We have reservations for there on Feb. 20, 2010 and have already paid for them.

Thank your for the information.

I really appreciate the information. I went to the web site and there it is - they are closed. Guess we have to find out what to do now! What a bummer!
