We were avid cruisers, and had cruised for 15 years. Several friends had been to Aruba and said that it was a nice island to visit, so we were looking for a cruise that stopped in Aruba. Nothing seemed to work with our schedule, so we decided to make a trip to Aruba. We left home 3 days late, due to a snowstorm, and arrived in beautiful, sunny Aruba that afternoon. We stayed at Divi Golf. That night at dinner, while sitting outdoors, enjoying the warm breeze, my husband said that he didn't want to leave at the end of the week because we had lost part of our vacation. We found a room for 4 additional nights at Manchebo, and knew that we were hooked. We've been coming to Aruba for the last seven years, and have only gone on two cruises during that time. Every time we think about doing something else, we always decide to go back to Aruba instead. Our trips have varied from 9 days to two weeks. This year, we are staying for three weeks.

We were getting married in October 1998. We went to a travel agent to book our honeymoon. She suggested Aruba because of the hurricane season. We went home and dialed up thru AOL and got to the single page aruba.com website. Looked as good as a webpage could back then! My aunt offered us use of her timeshare exchange thru RCI and we booked Aruba Beach Club. The rest is blissful history

We are Aruba honeymooners. When we were planning for our wedding, my DH to be came up with Aruba; I don't know why or how. It was 1989 and many people asked "where in the world is that". It immediately became our go to vacation spot.

My wife and I had decided to spend our honeymoon in the Caribbean, but... which island?

Viaje na Viagem (sorry, pun hard to translate to English), one of the best Brazilian travel websites, published a "little guide to find out which is your Caribbean island" (http://www.viajenaviagem.com/2010/04...ilha-no-caribe). We narrowed down our choices to Aruba, Curaçao or Punta Cana (all of three had direct flights from Brazil. Aruba and Punta Cana still have). In the end we chose Aruba (with a day trip to Curaçao) and never regretted it.

    All the best from Brazil

Our first trip ever was seven years ago. Our travel agent suggested Aruba, as a special place to go. We have been back every year. Have stayed at the Riu twice, Renaissance, Amsterdam Manor, and for the last couple of years MVC, as we are now staying for two weeks and it is very affordable. Hope to eventually up our vacation to a month and rent a condo. We're a few years from retirement though, so that's down the road. What is a good option for a month-long stay?

My journey began 25 years ago, we had gone to cancun, small children on streets begging for money.
We had rain for 3 days, I was sick from their drinking water, lasted 4 days. what a nightmare. Never Again!

I believe it was an advertisement in the sunday newspaper, went to our local travel agency, liberty travel?
looked at pictures, the hotel advertised the AMERICANA, we had one in our city, thought it sounded safe and friendly, we booked..

For my birthday in 2007 I wanted to go somewhere beachy. My husband and looked at several packages to Mexico and picked one. We went to bed and the next morning when we were going to pay for it we found it wasn't available. My husband saw something about Aruba so we booked a stay at the Westin. Have returned every year since but one.

We got lucky. We had purchased a timeshare in Las Vegas in 1993 and joined RCI as part of the package. In 1994 DW decided she wanted to go to an island with a nice beach instead of Vegas. I said that's a good idea as long as there is a casino there too. I put in a search for April in the Caribbean through RCI exchange and got 4 hits almost immediately. One was for St Martin, 2 for the Virgin Islands and 1 for the Aruba Beach Club. I knew the Virgin Islands did not have casinos so they were out. We actually decided on St Martin and were making plans for that exchange when fate stepped in. we were using FF miles on American for our flight and on the dates for the St Martin trip I could not get any same day flights. we would have to lay over somewhere for a night going and coming back. When I checked AA to Aruba I was able to get same day flights both ways. I know you east coasters don't have problems like that but we do in the west. That trip was one of the best and most relaxing trips we ever had and now we go every year except 2. We usually trade our Vegas week and rent a second week through the rental boards at Costa Linda or Playa Linda or Aruba Beach Club. We are glad we made the right choice.
