How far out do YOU plan and book your Aruba vacation?

How far out do you plan and book your Aruba vacation?

My husband and I try to plan and book about 6 mos out.
Our timeshare units are not fixed week, so we can be a bit more flexible than fixed week owners.

Unfortunately, we won't be back to Aruba anytime soon
Maybe in May 2014 but that looks doubtful.

Hey Andrea....I start worrying about making flight reservations in February for November.
We have 2 fixed weeks and 1 float but I usually put my float week in between the 2 fixed weeks (own 44 and 46).
As soon as I start fussing about flights my Dh starts rolling his eyeballs at me......usually says something like...."Are you starting already??? Do you realize we just got back !!!!" To which I reply...Yes, but I have to monitor flights to get the best deal (and seats, of course)!!!!
    ARUBA....HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We have weeks #4 & #5 (last week in January, first week in February) at Paradise Beach Villas. I start watching fares in the Summer and will book in the Fall. My wife has learned to not bug me to buy the tickets NOW! and chase credits.

On another front, she starts packing right after Christmas and I pack a day or two before we leave.

I am not wild about chasing the credits either. JB certainly has a captive audience with the credit thing!

We don't own a timeshare or have children, so our dates are flexible. We pretty much book based on the deal. We have certain times we can't go because of work commitments and training schedules, but other than that I just look for deals. I have a few months that I like to look for based on birthdays and anniversaries, but it doesn't really matter. Our 2nd trip I found a flight I couldn't resist ($306) and hotel in the right range, so we booked a trip just 4 weeks out. For 2014 I have a few time frames in mind so I have been watching kayak and redweek to see if anything jumps out at me. Our last trip we booked about 2 months out because I found a redweek rental that I couldn't pass up. For flights, I try to stay in the 6-8 week time frame for booking, but I will pretty much jump on anything around $400 (from DC/Baltimore)
Not sure when, but we will be back

I usually start looking late fall and book early in the year for the following summer. Has to be summer since the kids are out of school. Since we don't own timeshare it usually takes me a while to find all the rooms I need. Once the rooms are secured then I watch flight prices for a few days and book when I feel comfy with the price. Last year I booked 7 rooms starting in February, flights were booked the end of Feb for August travel. Next year...who knows!

My planning is ongoing. I'm often already thinking of my next trip while laying on the beach in Aruba. As for booking, that's usually done about six months ahead. Of course, if I find a good deal it could be just weeks ahead

We always go in March I start looking for flights as soon as USAir opens up the next year. So, I'm booked for Surf Club(time share) as soon as we return and air by June just to get a good location on plane.

Not only that, but we pay for our tickets with CC points. If we buy at a high price, we can get a credit from Jet Blue but I've already spent extra CC points I won't get back and that's real money.

We usually travel to Divi AI on turkey day which seems to be a good day as most people are already where they need to be. I usually start thinking about our next trip while sitting on the plane going home I usually book our room and air together by March, April the latest. However, this year I did something new I found a good deal (thanks to this forum) on Divi's site and booked by room alone in Feb. I then booked my air thru USAir in March. I did save a little money doing this and now I see that you can book both the room and airfare thru Divi's website. I may have to look into this next year. I remember seeing a one day sale for 50% off rooms thru Divi (once again thanks to this forum) however, I saw it too late so will have to keep an eye open for that early next year so I don't miss out. It is just a nice feeling once you book your next trip to Aruba regardless how far away it is at the time it just makes you do the happy dance
