Don't worry about the layover of 41 minutes.... you won't be the only couple making the connection.... it's the later flights during the day that can get timing problems.... it's not unusual for an airline to hold a flight so people can make a connection.... YOU'LL BE FINE.... AND YOU'LL LOVE ARUBA!

also, the atms in aruba gives out USD and the fees work just like they do here. it's about $3-5 charge by the bank + whatever your bank charges. again, there's no foreign currency conversion charge.

This is a rental from the aiport actually, I dont remember seeing any agents at the actual hotel, although most rental agents offer their cars be dropped off at your hotel

Radisson has a Hertz desk in the lobby... but I would bet that it's more expensive than the one you have lined up at the airport.

Also, FYI, there is an ATM in the lobby of the Radisson.... I used it a number of times while there this month and didn't get hit with any charges from Mercantile Bank or my own using my debit card.

AND.... a lot of credit cards have been imposing a 'foreign' transaction fee for use outside the States so check into that. AND... if you plan to use ATM/Debit cards in Aruba... you should notify your bank of the dates of your trip so the card does not get blocked from use... learned that the embarrassing way, but I had backup!

Thanks CPJones... Yup! I made my bank aware of my travel intentions this past weekend! They said no problem, thanks for the tip on the ATM at the Radisson, it would be nice to avoid some fees! You got lucky there!!

I already have reservations for PU at the aiport, I was just replying to Kathy there Thanks for the continued useful info!!!

we had 3 kids with us in July and we went through about $2000.00 in spending cash, but they went horseback riding, I went to the spa, casino money--which was about a $100 budget, sailing, butterfly farm, ostrich farm, shopping, etc. and all those 'incidentals' like bandaids, sunscreen-we ran out- all those little things, plus the long waits at the airports between flights were the kids are suddenly starving! It adds up sooo fast.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago and there was 3 of us, 2 adults one 10 year old. We spent over $2500 in spending money, included snorkeling, sailboat/snorkeling trip, small odds and ends, taxi rides, jeep rental and a few really nice dinners and lunches. I had the best intentions of only spending a certain amount of money, and staying on a budget. I mean we could of done without a few nice dinners, or even the sailboat ride. But, how often do you get to go to such a wonderful Island, and experience all they have to offer. I have some really great memories and pictures of the things we did, so spending the money "Priceless"!

We are heading to Aruba on Wednesday for a week and would like clarification on cash and use of atm. I just read on a Aruba fact site that cash is dispensed in florins from Atm machines and a fee is alo assessed. I do not like to carry a lot of cash and was hoping to replenish as needed from Atm machines. Is the above true? If true then only alternative would be traveller checks?
