Hurricane Felix from Aruba Tourism Authority

As you may know, Felix has become a hurricane and will be passing 100 km North of Aruba.

Aruba will experience the effects of a tropical storm (heavy rain, heavy surf around the coast lines and wind surges), between this morning until around 1 PM.

The airport has been closed from 6 AM to noon this morning. As a precaution, hotels that have rooms
with direct access to the beach have relocated their guests staying in these rooms to other floors.

We will be sending updates during the day.

Thank you so much for keeping us updated on the weather happenings in Aruba. Living on the west coast of Florida, I went through the hurricanes a couple of years ago, actually spent 5 1/2 hours in a walk-in closet with my 75 lb. dog! LOL), so I know how scary it can be. I hope the island comes away with little damage and everyone there will be safe during the hurricane. I will be trying to contact friends down there this afternoon/evening to see how they are (hopefully will be able to get hold of someone!).

I got an email from Lou of Aruba Timeshare Storage.
Here it is.

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for thinking of us. Actually, we made better with a Hurricane coming so close to us, than we have the past 3 years when there was NO mention of a Hurricane coming close to Aruba. Not very much wind. About four inches of rain.

Lou

interesting observations huh?
