Hurricane Season

Hello all! I will be vacationing in Aruba for the first time this year! My question is, when is hurricane season? My trip is booked October 3-10. People here in Missouri are saying I'm going during the hurricane season. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Hurricane Season

I was told that Aruba is not in the Hurrican path and that is why it is such a popular island. I saw on previous post that Hurrican Ivan caused some rain.

Re: Hurricane Season

There is no hurricane season, it is below the hurricane belt. It on rain 16 inches per year. Weather is usally constant with sun and wind. If it rains it a typical rain storm that lasts 5-10 mins.

Re: Hurricane Season

Aruba does not get hit by hurricane's you may get some heavy rain. Last year they had plenty of flooding and one year the private island had some damage.

Re: Hurricane Season

Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt which means it rarely gets affected by the storms.

However, the way the world is these days... Tsunamis, Landslides, etc. Nothing surprises me anymore!

Re: Hurricane Season

That is ALL true. However, heavy rains caused by Hurricane Ivan last year closed one hotel and flooded many others. the possibility of a direct hit by a hurricane are slim, but you can get aftermaths.

Re: Hurricane Season

Read that a hurricane hits the ABC Island every 100 years. I was in Aruba last September when Ivan passed. TheThe night after thunder was so loud I thought there was a cannon my balcony on the top floor of the Marriott. The Mill Resort looked like an island with water on all sides. At the Marriott water was up to workers knees walking into the parking lot. From the wall on the road side of the Marruitt to the homes across the large field was all water with no place to go.Workers in many of the holtels could not get to work. Taxis could not run to the airport.

Re: Hurricane Season

Hello,

I am going to Aruba this coming wednesday, is it easy to get a taxi or bus and go to different places w/out having to go on a tour?
I want to go and take my time where I go.

ALSO I see that the 10 days forecast is almost every day rain.. does it rain all day long? or at short periods of timeand the it gets nice again??
Thanks!
