Question Huts on Public Beaches

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone heard the STRONG rumor that the government has banned the use and will dismantle the huts on the public beaches? If this is true, what we will do for shade? Has anyone heard the hotels' reactions to this ruling? And, lastly, if we have to purchase a beach chair with a visor-type-of-top, where can one be purchased? We stay at the Holiday Inn and are quite concerned about this rumor.

Many thanks!

Please Google your question and you will find that it is NOT true "that the government has banned the use and will dismantle the huts on the public beaches." The Aruban government is NOT going to ban and dismantle all shade palapas.

What the government is evidently considering through their "Beach Management" is having the resorts and condominiums who did NOT get proper approval/permits to remove ONLY the "illegal" palapas. Furthermore from what was stated by one resort manager, there is a grandfather clause on this as well.

This was an initiative started by the previous government. Whether or not it still is I am unsure. The present government from what I understand is now concentrating on watersports vendors
