If Money were no object......would you?

If money were no object...... would you?

I had a private message from a new forum member asking if money were no object where would he stay when visiting Aruba?

So, I will put it out there:

    Where would you stay?

    Where would you dine?

    What activities would you partake?

(assuming you were there only a week)

my replies to this member was....

I would stay at Bucuti or Renaissance Marina Tower.

I would dine at the same places I always dine: Madam Janettes, Barneys, LaVista, Barefoot, Hung Paradise

I would snorkel with Kent's Aruba Bob Snorkeling and maybe head out with Tranquilo too. All other activities would be on the beach AND at the casinos.

The answer of where to stay is an easy one for me. The Ritz Carlton wins hands down, IMO regardless of room. If money is no object, not only am I at the Ritz but I am in a suite, dining daily at Solanio, BLT and The Divi bar for casual food all at the Ritz. The people that work there are amazing! I write my answer sitting at the pool at the Hyatt because I booked last minute and the Ritz was sold out. While the Hyatt is very nice the best description I can give it is, its great but its not the Ritz in any way. The one "plus" for the Hyatt is the grounds are incredible.

I would rent jeep and tour the island on my own. I would take at least one sunset cruise, I would also dine at passions once (assuming I left the ritz, lol)

I would stay in a suite at the Hyatt with a full balcony, mainly for the location and grounds. I would request a high floor ocean front. Dinners I wouldn't miss would be Barefoot, Tango, and Carte Blanche (haven't been but based on reviews). The Hyatt brunch on Sunday would be can't miss. I would definitely do a night at Bugaloe for sunset and music I would do a private guided Jeep or Atv tour (whatever makes you comfortable) to enjoy the freedom of my own pace but the knowledge of a guide.

I would split my time between the Bucuti and The Ritz. Dine at Carte Blanche, Madame Jannette, Quinta Del Carmen along with some more relaxed spots like West Deck and Barneys. A tour with Bully to get acclimated and a snorkel cruise on the Black Pearl.

I am with you Tracey about the location of the Hyatt, its great. If I never stayed at the Ritz your answer would be my choice as well. An example of the difference in service was lunch today by the pool. The service at the Hyatt poolside is lacking at best. We have eaten lunch 3x at the pool and have had good food but less than great service each time, and today was actually poor. Today we asked 3 different people for a menu before one lady finally yells to another women to bring us a menu. The lady that yelled returned 5 min later to take our order when we asked again to see a menu, her response was "she did not bring you a menu" She then took our order, brought our food when ready, then proceeded to bring the bill 2 min later. She never left the tab open, asked if my wife would like another beer, or anything like that because she did not come back...she closed the tab instantly and it was not because the were busy, they were not. At the Ritz, they ask your name, introduce themselves and actually make conversations...the staff there are incredible, and not just some, all. That is not to say the Hyatt does not have great servers, they certainly do. The wait staff we had a Ruinas last night was every bit as good as the Ritz. They were very attentive, and did a great job. The staff at the Palms restaurant has been good as well.

All that said, I am having a blast!!!!

If I were staying at a resort it would be Bucuti but there are some truly unique and amazing private rentals I would choose over any resort for example https://www.vrbo.com/559021 or https://www.vrbo.com/740071, there are also some really nice places at Blue residence and Oceania. Since money is no object a couple of times during the course of the week I would hire a private local chef to put together a special one off menu, would also hit Quinta, Tango and 2 Fools. As for activities I would rent a boat for the day (the Tranquillo or Black Pearl) and also do the Sunrise ATV tour. The rest of the time would be spent just relaxing.

I'm with burghboy. I would rent a fabulous house. There's quite a few in Malmok by Arashi Beach I would rent in a heartbeat. And no, not the one on the corner with the swimming pool on the street. but there are some fab houses there. There is one, if I ever win the lottery, I'm knocking on their door and making an offer they can't refuse. lol. If money was no object, there isn't one hotel that I would spend a thousand or whatever a night for. Not for a room or a suite. I'd rather spend $1000 a night for a fabulous house. And believe me==well, I'm sure you all know this but Aruba has some gorgeous gorgeous houses there.

I think we are both eyeing the same house and if its the one I am thinking of I believe its in the 7 million dollar range. Guess I better start playing the lottery.
