If there was no Aruba!

I saw a post on yourtravelinsider.com about this at

http://www.yourtravelinsider.com/mb/index.php/topic,38.0.html

but it looks like they dont really have that many members on there board and I am curious what everyone here thinks is the second best destination to travel to after Aruba of course I have been to Aruba 3 times now and wonder what else is out there. I am not very well traveled and need some suggestions. my wife and I got married in Aruba last year but we lost a loved one right when we got back from our trip and I want to surprise my wife with a trip. any help would be appreciated.

Re: If there was no Aruba!

Sorry to hear about your loss. But there are not many islands that are this devolped and this safe. Jamaica is a great place, but so many visitors always talk about their safety. I have been there 8 times and never ever had any issues-I would recommend going there. If you can-you should definitely look into Sandals (all inclusive) Its the best! You dont even have to leave the resort and you will never get bored. St Lucia is a beautiful Island and very nice people as well.
If you want safety/somewhat devolped and ability to travel the island-best place in the world is Maui! But that will get expensive. I guess it depnds on your price range and what you enjoy. I have been to all of these places and they are all great. Also, the Caymans!!! EXCELLENT! You are welcome to email me if you like and I could give you more ideas. Good Luck

Go to Puna Cana. I went to Secerts Exwcellant and you get the best bang for your buck. Secerts is the best and beautiful place where you will be treated like and king. Your wife will love you long time!!

Re: If there was no Aruba!

We stopped in Anquilla on a cruise, the beach was gorgeous! We only spent 1/2 the day there.

Turks & Caicos was also beautiful, spent a week there at the Beaches resort.

Re: If there was no Aruba!

Jason,

What Marcus said, "St Maartin" very nice much more diverse and in many ways more interesting. I'll let you know on St John USVI.

BTW I think Aruba is on the verge of over development. You know how you can tell? When every other person you meet has been there.

Lastly other places ARE different OF COURSE THEY'RE NOT ARUBA- THATS THE IDEA. It is called "travel" try some different places NOW AND THEN. If people WANT to go to the same place for 20 years that's fine but I WOULD GET BORED, NEED TO MIX IT UP A LITTLE!!

The Caribbean has a lot to offer very few people have been to them all- even the top 10 to 15. Most people, now this is just a guess probably only visit a FEW like 3 or 4 islands; some less some more. OK?

Typically people are suspicious and afraid of the unknown and comfortable with the known so they go back over and over again and fairly to some degree I can understand, you want to KNOW what you can count on weatherwise etc. Another universal truth is that people who spend hard earned money to take that vacation ARE NEVER GOING TO SAY THAT THE PLACE SUCKS (Sorry Mom) You know what I mean? One thing presupposes the other.

If you get bored try Hawaii and start in on the Pacific tour. Holy cats man it is a huge world it doesn't ALL revolve around a rock little desert island with some hotels on it!!!!!

Re: If there was no Aruba!

Hawaii
Maui and Kauai have great beaches and fantastic sights. It is easy to get around these islands in a rental car. Its the only way to see these two great islands!!

Have been to both 5 times.
Hawaii - My favorite
Aruba - Second of anywhere else I have been.

Re: If there was no Aruba!

Aruba is my first choice; been going there every year for the past 6 years. Plan on continuing it every year in the future.
Did enjoy a stay on the Mayan Riviera at an Iberostar.
Also enjoyed three trips to the Dominican Republic at three different Iberostar's; but, not much to do off property.
Have heard that Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica are great places. Looking into it for the future.
Also looking into the Windjammer in St. Lucia; a friend told me it was great.
Going to the Mayan Riviera in Dec. and staying at Secrets Capri; supposed to be a first-rate adults only resort.
