Iguana's

I know there are a lot of Iguana's running around the island, but are the a nuisance? Do I need to be mindful of these reptiles?

I guess it depends where u park yourself...They don't really bother u...I will tell u a funny story ( this isn't the norm)...Lg inguana in palm tree by the pool at the Renn...bang, out if falls onto a woman sunbathing ...u had to witness it to believe it.
But honestly, they are no bother and will often pose for photos.

They are harmless - yet can look a little intimidating. They don't really have any teeth. From what I noticed - many of the little guys are fearless and will approach humans if the human isnt moving much. We have some great pictures of the guys climbing trees and stealing french fries from people by the pool.

The only thing you should be mindful of is that you dont want to accidently step on one. They are everywhere!

They eat lettuce, not fingers.

Just don't sleep under a palm tree that one is in.

Well, I wasn't hurt, a few scratches, but it scared the cr*p out of me!

Sitting at the Bucuti restaurant at lunch on our 1st visit. Watching the iguanas being fed at other tables and how afraid of them some people were. We were NOT feeding them. Eating my salad and suddenly feel something trying to claw it's way between my knees into my lap. I, naturally, scream and jump backwards out of my chair. One of the bigger (of course!) iguanas is just standing there looking at me like I'm crazy. I had claw scratches half way up my inner thighs and it did break the skin some.

Now, if there are iguanas roaming I refuse to sit with my legs under a table!

I survived only slightly traumatized and our souvenir from that trip was a rubber iguana!

Yes you do, they are pretty much here there and everywhere< I personally am not crazy about them, but it is true, they don't bother you, but mentally knowing they are around can make you a little crazy .jsut knowing. Another funny story, I was at the radisson last year, my husband and I were in the pool, a few people came down to eat, so they sat at one of those high bar tables, in the high chairs, well we watched a bigger iguana stroll over to and actually try to jump on the womens chair, she kind of didn't make a big deal, but I'm in the pool telling my husband, OMG did you see that, I would have a big problem with that, husband says i'm crazy, but seriously, when i used to eat out by the pool, I kept my feet off the ground

if one has red or dark pink toenail polish on it will attract iguanas.

they are "good eating"...................... i think that catching and cooking iguanas on aruba is illegal

that being said i did eat iguana in bonaire in 1978

Thanks Andrea,

Think I will paint toenails purple, always do a deep caribbean pink

I don't like the Iguannas, but eating them, don't think I could ever do that.
