Impact of new buildings, i.e., extension of Marriot
Well, I have a question...and am sure that many will be able to answer it.
What impact has the new buildings adjacent to the Surf Club, etc., had on spaces on the beach? I would imagine that it may be extra crowded...am I right; and are they working on remedies to relieve any additional crowding? Any comments? Ed |

i am thinking i am misunderstanding the question ed.
there is a condo complex going up nearby. there is the new mall nearby. adjacent to the surf club is the ocean club on the north side and moombas the holiday inn on the south side. the marriott beach area (surf, ocean and hotel) has always been crowded. folks wondered how the addition of the surf club population would impact the beach and there has been significant crowding........but not catastrophic as lots of folks thought it would be. *******disclosure, i rarely go to that end of the island. we head that way to snorkel at catalina cove and to visit the marriott casino at night on occasion. ed, can u give a better or a different description of the place where you refer to the "new buildings"? If you are talking about the new Aqua condos that will be a long time till they are finished and sold out. That is condos so I don't think it will impact the Surf Club beach. Maybe more so by Moombas.

i think that the terrible economy has forced the completion of those condos to be slowed.......considerably.
ed, when you are on island, where do you stay? |

Acqua Condominiums Aruba Report Godspeed Construction
www.aruba.com/news/general-news/acqua-condominiums-aruba-report-godspeed-construction/ General News May 7th, 2010 ![]() "General Manager Jenner Florez and Managing Director Oscar Helmeyer report that the second phase of the East tower of Acqua Condominiums currently under construction on Palm Beach is progressing at a brisk pace. The Sales Center is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and preparation for the foundation for the South tower, is scheduled to be poured the first week of May. Florez and Helmeyer are pleased to report that the fill for that mega foundation and for the entire complex footprint was purchased from the new owners of the now defunct Adventure Golf. The mounds of earth-fill that once made up that mini golf facility, found a new home, and will enjoy a second life in the gardens of Acqua Condominiums. As the interior division of the 1st phase of the East building continues, plumbers will start work on all floor 1 to 5 bathrooms, when construction resumes at the end of the Easter holiday. Acqua Condominiums is currently adding certified plumbers and air-conditioning installation technicians to its construction crew, and is pushing to fill every open position in that department. With all plumbing materials on island, and in storage on property, including the iron mesh required for both West and the South towers, building is very much on time, and on target, and as soon as the plumbers move out, roof tiles will be laid over the already installed rafters. ![]() Acqua Condominiums Sales Centre also reports exciting news. In April, developers will award two airline tickets to any new buyer. The incentive is designed to create a Buy & Fly program, according to which April buyers may return to check on the progress of their unit later this year, with airfare courtesy of the developers. Other prizes are also included in the attractive April sales drive. Additionally, in April, buyers may expect their Share Purchase & Sale Agreement Drafts in the mail. The documents will be sent out, further cementing the relationship between buyers, the local notary, the various legal entities and the Aruba Investment Bank, the local banking institution entrusted with financing the project. As financing is always a key issue when making a real estate purchase, it pleases developers to announce that just 60% of the purchase price should be arranged by the buyer, and the balance of 40% of the purchase price, may be financed via Acqua Condominium developers. Built of 30.278 m2 of property land this exciting project continues to attract buyers and investors, lured by the upscale elegance of the Mansions, Penthouses, Suites, Studios and Residences. Acqua Condominium Aruba began construction more than one year ago, and has been met with great enthusiasm from the get go. A stylish and contemporary Sales Centre on Palm Beach, on the construction site, includes a number of model apartments with Kohler bathrooms & faucets, European style kitchens with granite tops, brand-name appliances, porcelain tiles, floor to ceiling UV-filtered hurricane proof windows and doors, all tastefully furnished and finished, and available for viewing. Andea: A friend has a time share...but just sold it; and this will be the last time we use it...at the Ocean Club. We have over the past few times stayed at the Surf Club; but, most likely will stay at an AI after this last time.

guess it depends on the time of year you go...........think back 5 years ago what Palm beach used to be????? It indeed has come a long way but the concern is valid
![]() We love the surrounding venues and although there are lots of activities going on, it has never been uncomfortable..........which is another reason we always have a car so we can explore other sites without feeling strapped to stay at our resort. |
