It depends where you are on the Island. In some areas south....yes they are bad. We are in Noord and our main issue is the bloody noseeems. They hang around all day. In the Palm Beach area I haven't had any issue except at Cash Tua where I actually left and went to a supermarket to buy some spray. Upon return and after using it, other customers were asking me if they could use.

Overall its it's not bad. The Govt is on top of it. The current spraying is using a new spray that is not harmful to humans. They recently introduced this as there was a bit of a scare about possible yellow fever in the San Nicolaas area, Pos Chiquito and Savaneta. I haven't heard more about that, so assume it's an issue under control.

we have started using a repellant called GO. It is from Barbados. Very effective and not as harsh as OFF. They sell a kids version as well. It is half the cost of OFF and as effective

Yes most supermarkets carry it, even the smaller Chinese ones. It costs 8Afl for the spray. The same size for OFF is between 18-19Afl

Thanks so much. I will pick some up as soon as we get on the island. Mosquitoes don't bother me too much, but the wife is a magnet.

Initially I was concerned about how effective the GO product since my wife had gone through extensive chemo and consequently she bled easily from bites. After using this product over he past 6 months, including the rainy season when the mozzie said were bad, I can report she had no issues with bites and bleeding

As an aside and a bit off topic, the United Nations in conjunction with several drug companies have been monitoring a reach project in several nations that suffer from a huge mozzie problem. These companies have developed a soap. It can be used to wash the body with and anothervto wash clothing. Seems interesting. I wonder what you smell like after using it..........kerosene?

Hello there, I'm visiting Aruba this coming Sunday and I'm worried about Zika on Aruba. My husband and I will be trying to expand our family possibly next month and we are so worried as they say now you should wait 6 months after visiting an area with Zika before trying to conceive.

Anyone have any insight on this? How are the mosquitos there currently? The CDC website is not very helpful at all and I am a mosquito magnet.

(We are staying at the Hilton.)

    Thank you!!
    Amy
