    ipad use

Just a heads up.When my wife and I went to Aruba this past April,my wife decided to bring her ipad and called AT&T a month before hand and set up the "international" plan(hah ha ha)well needless to say when we got home and the bill came it was 91.00USD well over the already paid for 30.00USD that my wife was told it would cost. There were also charges for aruba roaming and bahamas roaming?Next time I'm thinking just to rent a phone from aruba fast phones like we had in the past.no problems, reasonable cost and good service.

Wow - what a shocker. That's another reason why a better alternative is to go with Netbook or computer based technology versus smarthpone (ipad, iphone or smarthpone, which rely on data. Of course, that is.....unless you purchase direct from one of local providers (digitel, etc.). I learned the hard way several years ago, when I forgot to turn off my roaming

when traveling out of the country always throw them in airplane mode ..they also pick up wifi signal.
i am on the ipad now, using wifi in aruba.

also if using an unlocked gsm smartphone pick up a data plan and sim card on aruba

    OR
try the MIO wireless for up to 5 devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops

If you used the wifi in Aruba you wouldn't have a problem I use my Ipad every year there just need to by a wireless access card from your resort.
Made that mistake once used our phones for two weeks there came back to a 600$ bill NEVER AGAIN!
This year I didnt even bring it I like to be totally disconnected from the real world!

My wife understood the international plan that it wouldn't cost a dime over the $30.00 buy in fee.Never again.

P.S. no it never went in WiFi mode.

We were on the island Nov & Jan, we downloaded an app called Talkatone and used free wifi to place dozens of calls each trip with 0 dollars in cost. With that app using wifi only you can place free calls to anywhere in US or Canada., we thought it was great, previous years we had always used calling card from pay phone, that was kinds of nice too, because we were more "disconnected from any problems at home. Lol
