the trouble with putting your phone on airplane mode is fine if you don't use it. But if you turn it on down there all your data will come on also. I know I made that mistake you need to go to settings, then general, then network your Data roaming will be right in front of you just shut it off. You can use phone now without data charges I think it's 1.29 per minute for mine not really bad down there. Wilkie

    iPhone - detailed question

We have been traveling to Aruba for years... back in the mid 2000's for a phone we used and old Nokia and an old Motorola unlocked phone and would buy a prepaid sim card. Easy... and cheap.

The last few years I had been on an international company blackberry - and didnt even think about it. I had data/phone with nothing to consider.

I am now on a Verizon iPhone 4S which I pay for myself. I know Verizon will unlock my phone for me and it takes MicroSim cards.

My question is... will the Sim Cards that Digicel / Setar sell in the airport work for both Phone / Data? Do they have the new smaller Micro Sims vs the older larger Sims the older phones used to take?

I cant seem to find the info on any website. Or in the end am I better off just having VZ switch me over to an international plan and beingvery careful with my data usage outside of wifi areas?

    Thanks!!

Try sending them an email to ask your question. Is there a "Contact Us" on their website?

I had Verizon "Unlock" my iPhone 4s so that I could use an international sim card. What you have to buy is a sim card cutter (I bought one via Amazon.com), and cut the sim card either from either Digicel or Setar. It is a very easy process to cut the card. Mine works fine in Aruba. I have also used local sim cards in Spain, Italy and Portugal and they all work with the iPhone 4s.

    Regards,
