I know I'm getting close because I am starting to have those Aruba nightmares. You know the ones where you are in "Bizzaro" Aruba and you timewarped through the week. It is such a relief to wake up from that. See you week 27 LaCabana.

My plans are made and bags are just about packed!

I am three weeks away and I am all ready for my first week in Aruba; I have only stopped in for a day as part of a cruise several years ago, so I am so excited to get to really explore! Thanks to all the information and answers I got on this forum I have a great vacation planned.

There will be three adults: me, my mom and my dad. They are planning to buy a vacation home within the next year or two and considering Aruba. So the trip emerged!

Hotel: Marriott Resort & Stellaris casino

Car Rental: Tropic (Hans seems great so far)

    Cell Rental:
Blackberry from Aruba Discount Cell (Trees is helpful and quick to respond)

Restaurants to try: Since my parents are not fans of fancy, gourmet, expensive type dining I have been researching inexpensive, laid back places with simple food
Breakfast- at Mathew's Beachside Restaurant, Ruins del Mar Sunday brunch, Moomba's
Lunches - at Queen's Bar & Restaurant, Hadicurari, Bingo, Waves at the Marriot
Happy Hours- Gilligan's Beach Bar, Pega Pega Beach Bar, Pavillion Beach Bar, Pirate's Nest, Bugaloe, Moomba
Dinners - at The Plaza Cafe, The Pelican Nest, Salt & Pepper, Smokey Joe's, Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill, Cafe Rembrandt

We plan on making a stop at the grocery store for snack foods, breakfast stuff and items to have beach picnics a few day of the week!

I plan spending half a day touring the South End of the island, a half day exploring the North End and half a day in downtown Oranjestad. The only thing we may skip is the Natural Pool.

I have everything sitting on the guest bed ready to be packed : lots of sunscreen, spf beach hat, vacation Vault, 3 liters of alcohol (one for each of us), snorkel gear, and some of my fav food items like peanut butter, protein bars, etc. Plus your typical beach wear. So I AM READY TO ENJOY THE ISLAND AND RELAX ON THE BEACHES!!!

Any other suggestions for my trip?

I wish you a great trip. You may want to try Salt and Peppers for lunch.Last time I went they had great fried grouper.
Also if you're going to the south end of the island anyway,be sure to check out the baby beach and do some snorkeling there too.

Check out the Hard Rock Cafe by the high rises and Senior Frogs downtown. There is also a bar near the refinery and I believe it's called Charlies?? Good time in there too.

Baby beach is on my list as a place to snorkel and take a picnic lunch. If we can find Charlie's Bar, I had planned to stop in for a drink!

We will go into Hard Rock for a drink and to buy a souvenir hat for my dad; but I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants. I definitely plan on going to Salt & Pepper, but most likely for dinner to get the tapas/Sangria sunset special!
