Jelly fish

Does anyone know if there are any of the dangerous jelly fish around Aruba/beaches.

In 20 trips to Aruba, we only saw jellyfish once (April 2006) and it was just a fluke that they had been pushed in from a storm. We were told to get out of the water for a few hours and then all was fine again after that.

Last year I stepped on something on the beach in the water in front of the Tam. I am not sure what it was because I did not see it. However, it did sting me on the foot and it hurt for about an hour of two. I think it may have been a jelly fish, but I am not sure. Other than that, in over 35 years of going to Aruba, I have never seen any jelly fish.

My wife was swimming at the Marriott this afternoon and she was stung by one. She went and they give her some burning cream and said that she needs to pee on it because the acid really takes the sting away. She did and she was in alot of pain and said she might need to go to the hospital. 1 hour later she asked if I would pee in a cup for her. After she put that on she said it went away and we are heading to Mirandis for dinner. The moral of the story is if you ever get stung by a jelly fish, pee on it. Second time is a charm!!!

A few years ago when we were in Aruba in August, someone caught a jellyfish in a paper cup. That's the only one I've ever seen on our visits.
