Re: Jewelry Stores...Who do I trust?

I have bought from Royal Jewelers
the last 3 years and will be going
back in September and hopefully
will make another purchase.

They are extremely accomodating
and when I brought the jewelery
back home to the States it appraised
out for a lot more than what we paid
for it in Aruba.

So enjoy....

Re: Jewelry Stores...Who do I trust?

For many, many years we have shopped at Royal Jewelers and now their sister store Royal Diamonds. Please ask for Raj, and he will take very good care of you and your family

We have never been disappointed, and he and his entire staff are great. If he has the time he may show you our photos on his wall.

Enjoy your trip.

Re: Jewelry Stores...Who do I trust?

Addition to my previous post:

My younger neighbors parents own 2 jewelry
stores in Philadelphia. I spoke to them over the weekend about watches and diamonds.
They go to the Caribbean, shop etc. etc. and they tell it this way:

There are NO two diamonds or precious stones exactly, perfectly alike! Therefore any jewelry with gems of any type will vary in price from one piece to another. A half or one karat stone, etc. could easily vary several thousand dollars or more.
So the best so called "deal" is dependant on your store selection and their quality of merchandise.
They also explained that name dropping can be a detriment rather than an advantage.

If lets say, Joe Smith buys a watch for $700.00 with a discount and you like the exact same make and model and mention his name, the dealer will look bad if he sells it to you cheaper than the $700.00.
He may want to add more sales revenue in any one given day hence giving a new customer a lower than $700 price.

I would get to know a reputable jeweler and their manager personally by your own introduction. If and when you find jewelry of your liking explain to him/her you are a new customer and have been shopping in other stores on the island and like what you have found in his store. Explain your desired expectations for quality and value and of course price. Written appraisals in Aruba have in essence no credence as to return options.
As mentioned you can however get a full trade option for another diamond purchase with a diamond bought for one year at two locations.

Shop all the recommendations here. Their all good. You alone will feel what you need to feel to be comfortable with the store, its selections and its sales person. Hundrends of people use other peoples names and it establishes a different acceptance than an all new customer.
Many times a dealer will extend a better price to a new customer to acquire his business depending on your selection, sales for the month and more.

Lastly if you are planning large out-of pocket purchases, take a day and shop all the recommendations.

Use your credit card and leave the Bill sent me, Mary sent me, etc. etc. home.

PS: Most all jewelry stores offer drinks....free, if thats a positive?

Best of luck, and happy hunting...rc

Re: Jewelry Stores...Who do I trust?

If you go shopping and want jewelry go to Gold Palace, next door to Dunkin Donuts and Subway downtown. A lady we met down at the beach had been going there for years so We were very comfortable so we went in and threw her name around a few times and I got a new ring priced for 3700 down to 1000!!! I was so excited, they are pretty nice too. There are just so many jewelry stores down there you don't know who to go to.

Re: Jewelry Stores...Who do I trust?

We have been going to Aruba every year since 2000 and always shop at the Gold Palace. It's now located on street going into down by the cruise ships. It used to be on Main Street when we first start shopping there.

That first year we saw a police officer buying jewerly and another native. So we knew it had to be a good place - not just were us tourist go, but were Arubian people shop.

My husband not buy any jewerly in the state only in Aruba and never had a problem.

They are very friendly and also give us Bulashi to drink.
