heartbreaking.
The boat that capsized was the larger of the two boats that Jolly Pirates operate. It was the one that replaced the original boat that was lost during Ivan.

Both boats came from Brazil.

Hopefully she can be towed into shallower water if necessary, refloated and restored. they don't have the facilities to hand a boat that size on Aruba, so Harald may have to take her to the Venezuelan boat yard that does his maintence work.

They pulled her up on Thursday

She was sitting low in the water, but they did pull her up and bring her close to shore. We were on the beach when it happened. It was a freak little storm. We spoke with a mother and her sons that were on the boat. She was so relieved no one was hurt and couldn't stop hugging and kissing her three sons.

There was a windsurfer they had to rescue... scary.

Latest reports are that the JP is partially floated, in the upright position. They are awaiting more air bags to get the ship high enough out of the water to begin pumping out the water. She will then be taken to Venezuela for repairs.

Andrea, as you already know she has been refloated and is being pumped out as we speak. Looks pretty good for what she has been through. Again, thankfully no one was injured.

Here's an update:
The Jolly Pirates is being saved. Going to Venezuela for its annual maintenance. Looks like she'll be back in just one month!!!

Terrific news for sure! She'll be back better than ever probably sooner than most of us thought. Thank you for the update!
