La Cabana vs. Marriott

Hi everyone,
We just got back from La Cabana. Loved our vacation. La Cabana had great pools and our 1 bedroom in the villas was quite large. My only problem was the room - totally needs to be updated and the furniture was worn, felt dirty. We rented from an owner at La Cabana and may want to try the Marriott timeshares next year. We've never stayed at the Marriott, but heard its very spacious and nice.

Is the Marriott Surf/Ocean club worth the extra money over La Cabana? How do the pools compare? Is the Marriott waterslide large? My kids love the giant waterslide and small slide at La Cabana. I need to make sure the pools are just as entertaining for them. Are the rooms at the Marriott that much nicer? Are they musty and dingy like La Cabana's?

Thanks!

I don't know about the Marriott, but I think that you'll find the rooms at the LaCabana Beach and Racquet Club cleaner and more up to date than the Villas. Getting ready to leave for my 6th trip to the island and have stayed in both. We love the B & R Club and can't imagine the extra cost at the Marriott worth it.

Lacabana Villas as been in a state of bankrupcy, that is the reason for the state of the property. The Marriott time shares are much more expensive than Lacabana. My choice would be Playa Linda due to the location.

Re: La Cabana vs. Marriott

when you were in Aruba why didnt you just go over to the Marriot,? you could have taken a tour through the Marriott, there is no comparisim, it is a no brainor, the Marriott is the place you would want to be at, you could have seen it with your own eye's instead of getting opinion's on the board.

Re: La Cabana vs. Marriott

The rooms are big, bright and very well appointed with a nautical design at the Marriott Surf Club. The property is new so everyting is in very good condition. Every master unit has a washer and dryer which is great with kids. The pool area is very large and very nice w/swim up bar on one side and lazy river and slide with kids play pool area on the other side. I have never been to La Cabana so I can't tell you how they compare. If you go to Marriott Vacation Club web site there is probably pictures of the property and rooms.

Re: La Cabana vs. Marriott

I am the right person to respond to your message. We have been to Aruba 4 times. The first time we stayed at La Cabana - 2 star at best, moldy smell and yes old and outdated rooms. From then on we have stayed at Marriott Ocean and Surf club, we purchased a timeshare there on the second trip - worth every penny!!!!!! Every Year.

There is no comparison between the Marriott and LaCabana. The Marriott is in a different class completely.

Re: La Cabana vs. Marriott

Fay, The Marriott is top notch in everything. The rooms and pools are 100% nicer than Lacabana. We have stayed at both places. Don't get me wrong, Lacabana is ok for the money that you pay but its going to cost you 2 or 3 times more for the Marriott. The saying goes. " you get what you pay for"
