When the hard hand of winter wraps it's cold grip around me
I need sand under my feet and warm air to surround me.
My heart longs for the island I often call 'home'.
Aruba, I miss you, so I write you this poem.
Your people are as friendly as I've seen any place.
You greet us with kind words and a smile on your face.
At being hospitable you are simply the best.
Your love of people rises above the rest.
Your customs and colors are so varied and bright.
They intrigue me by day and excite me at night.
I get lost in your world and don't want to be found.
I only wish I could be there the whole year 'round.
The blue-green of your waters are like beautiful eyes.
When I gaze into them I feel the highest of highs.
The beauty of your island has captured my soul
And only when I'm with you do I truly feel whole.
I long to see you, Aruba, golden star of the sea.
Where I forget all my problems and set my mind free.
Thank you, Aruba, and thank God above
For such a happy island on which to live and to love.
