Hey guys, im going to Aruba in a few days and wanted to know how old you have to be to buy cigarettes. Im 17 1/2 and was thinking about buying a carton up here (NJ) before i go but they are very expensive + i think you have to be 18 to bring cigarettes into Aruba anyway. Whats the age to buy cigarettes and do most places really care about the age? Thanks

Marc17, Hey, isn't selling cigarettes to minors in the states illegal? I wouldn't try it bringing them in with you. Do your parents let you smoke at 17?

yeah its illegal..doesnt mean people dont sell it to you tho =]. So whats the age they will sell to you in Aruba..?

I remember being 17, ya it will kill you, ya they wont sell them in the states but dont tell me Im 17 and I know. Not sure of the age but had to say my say.

You will be able to buy them in aruba, no sweat.

my lecture:
I smoked for more than half my life.
It is a miserable stinking habit.
I have felt like a leper and have had to hide in the garage and the workshop to smoke.
It has cost thousands of dollars over the years.

Being smoke free is marvelous.
Give it a whirl, before you are really hooked on the nicotine.
All of us here probably sound harsh and inappropriate..........but ya know.............so what! We, like your parent's have earned the right by our age/experiences.

I too started smoking before I was 17 and remember where you are coming fron.

I quit many years later and am happier and healthier for having done so.

The money I spent on cigarettes every year would have paid for a trip to Aruba each year.

Your trips may be free now if Mom and Dad are paying for them, but they won't always be that way.
