Losing of belongings while in Aruba

or for that matter anywhere on vacation?

I was skypeing a friend this morning (in aruba) and she was telling me that in the past 10 days she has lost 2 pairs of sunglasses and one sun visor.
She is sure it is her own carelessness, and not theft.

I mentioned to her, that on practically every trip we too lose something.
This past trip in May i lost my fossil watch.
Careless is the word of the day.

I wore the watch to the beach, took it off and left it on the arm of my chair when i went into the water. (duh)
Came back, sat my fat bottom in the chair and so very much forgot about the watch.
It probably had fallen off onto the sand at that point.

Paul, same day had his NE PATS ball cap blow off and swept out to sea.

    Have you lost something?

Tom lost $600 that he had in his pocket when we were in Vegas a few weeks ago He had reached into his pocket for a Kleenex and we figure he didn't notice those $100 bills floating out. I really believe had we been in Aruba someone would have returned it

We have a backpack that carries our laptop and all our Aruba-based financial documents.

Two things happened: we flew business class for the first time so we had more luggage than normal and we rented a car that the seat material was almost identical to the material the back pack was made out of.

    You know what happened.

As i went screaming through the terminal to get back to Hertz, I was almost hit by a taxi running across the median.

At Hertz, they said, "Oh no! The car may be gone off-site for servicing!" and then myself and two Hertz employees went running into the sheltered parking and, lo and behold, the car hadn't been taken yet and the backpack was found in the backseat like one of the worst games of "Where's Waldo?" I've ever experience.

We now glue all luggage to our bodies and never let go.

I'll be the one at Arashi with the Tumi carry-on glued to his forehead.

A few years ago lost a very pretty pair of sunglasses. Went to Bunker Bar to watch sunset, met a fun couple had lots of fun. The glasses were inexpensive but loved them, hard to find a pair you think looks good of you finally do and oops! Went to lost and find and a few nice people on this forum looked when I posted I had lost them but no luck other than that just lost some $$$$ in the casinos (lol) but then again expected to lose that

I don't lose stuff. (probably just cursed myself). DW, on the other hand, has an Olympic gold medal in losing stuff. Two of the more costly things she has lost are a pair of half carat diamond studs and a tanzanite and diamond necklace at different times. I am not bothering to mention the many eyeglasses, credit cards, keys, etc. that she loses on a regular basis.

We only seem to loose men's wedding bands in Aruba.

You all know of my brother's band that was returned by a few very special members of this forum.

My husband lost his wedding band while snorkeling on Jolly Pirates. My daughter spotted the ring, but couldn't get down far enough. One of the pirates swam down and got the ring for us!

So I guess neither of those stories are losses....

My son lost a pair of goggles when he got knocked down by a wave at Casa del Mar. He wasn't used to the surf being so rough in Aruba

We've learned from experience to pack light, carry no valuables or expensive things like sunglasses or jewelry, and just hope to get through the week without losing anything important like wallets or passports.

I'm in charge of passports, boarding passes, claim checks, etc. It's the only way we would both get to the destination together.

I was up at the lighthouse last week when a bunch of cash flew out of my pocket. I didn't even notice. One of the vendors up there saw the money and brought it back to me. It was about $40 in smaller bills. I gave him $10 and thanked him profusely.

I always lose my will to go home (although common sense takes over and I do return home).

I usually lose my diet. I lose my inhibition to wear a 2 piece swimsuit when in Aruba (after that 3 month diet).

And, I always lose my stress...
