    Synopsis

I'll give a synopsis of how this progressed.

I found the camera 2 weeks ago washed up in the rocks. The Ikelite waterproof housing seal was unbroken and the inside was completely dry.

I took the memory card out and looked at the pictures, which I knew were not from the Keys. One picture showed 2 guys in scuba gear next to a yellow truck with stage-dot-com on the side. I could not see what was before stage, so I went to a scuba diving web forum called scubaboards.

On that forum, there was a member who spoke Dutch. They translated the poster for me in the picture of a kid's school. That's how we identified Aruba. From there, we were able to make out the Alhambra Casino, Casa Del Mar, and Divi resorts. We then found wereldstage-dot-com and found their font to be exactly the same as on the yellow truck. We knew we were in the right place.

Several of us sent e-mails to the Schakel school and wereldstage, but none have been returned.

The dive pictures and videos were taken on November 1, 2009 and November 11, 2009. In between, there were pictures of the kids and the school. One picture showed an adorable little girl standing at the fence of the airport.

The really amazing part is the turtle video. In January, 2010, which was during the camera's floating journey, a sea turtle bit in to the housing, turning the camera on and recording himself.

my guess and it is a guess that someone from aruba went to florida and lost it there.
florida is a huge important destination for arubans. (mostly to miami for shopping.....easy flights and also to orlando aka house of mouse and for shopping)

    again, this is a guess.

then again, it would be really pretty cool if it made the journey all of the way from aruba

It did come from Aruba, not Florida. This, I am absolutely certain of. As stated earlier, the last photos/videos were underwater shots in Aruba. There was also several months worth of growth on the waterproof housing, and a turtle incident in January while the camera was just floating.

    Here is the turtle video:

I edited this down to 5 minutes. The remaining 15 minutes were of the camera floating, just looking up at the sky.

Ditto on hoping that someone will claim the camera. I am sure that they will not only be surprised; but amazed that it went so far; and, also, that someone was kind enough to do all that work to see that it is returned to it's owner.
