Marriott Surf Club or LaCabana

Hi

We had reservations at LaCabana but exchanged them for the Marriott Surf Club.
I have been reading bad reviews about the beach down at the Marriott. Is this true?
We enjoyed Eagle Beach and now I'm afraid we made a bad choice. Please Help.
Any info on the Marriott Surf Club will be great

We leave next Sat May 20th

Re: Marriott Surf Club or LaCabana

If it is the beach you want, then LaCabana and Eagle beach is better. The beach at the Surf Club has received a lot of bad press on this board. Just go down to the Ocean Club or Hotel for a better part of the beach. The pool area at the SC is great, we are going again in July. We were there just when they opened and nothing was done. The SC is new and up to date. LaCabana is a fun place during the High Season, it is not a fancy as the Surf Club.

Can't go wrong at the Marriott stayed at LC last year and hated it. Hotel is 100 times better. Beach might be a little better further up from the Marriott but overall you will enjoy it a lot more. 5 star compared to2 star.

Re: Marriott Surf Club or LaCabana

We just came back from LC , 2 weeks ...We feel it is the best . Had a 1 bedroom at the Villas . Everything we could wish for , champagne there with a beautiful card , celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary . Our every day housekeeper , the best . Beach is to die for , none better . Same hut every day , with chairs and wipped off before we sat down . Not a negative , that I can think of . Lots of hugs and kisses and welcome back . Our 7th year there and would not think of going anywhere else . They treat you like royalty !!!! I miss them already .

Re: Marriott Surf Club or LaCabana

Hi Kellie,
I am a timeshare owner at the Surf Club and you made the right choice to exchange from La Cabana. The beach is wonderful at the Surf Club as well as the pool area and the lazy river. During high season it may be difficult to get a hut but you can reserve one for 3 days at $15 a day. You need to go to the towel hut at 10:00 a.m. when you arrive. Have a great vacation. We are going again June 1st and spend 10 days in March.

Re: Marriott Surf Club or LaCabana

We just got back yesterday! The Marriott was wonderful! We were also deciding between them and LC so glad we decided on the Marriott! Huge rooms! Everything was well beyond what we were hoping for! The ocean is so nice and calm that you can just in the water all day. My mom was down the same week on Eagle beach and they some times had waves that knocked them over! The only waves we had were from the occasional boat that went by!! We went parasailing also right from the beach. They were great! We had no drop off in the water that some people have spoken of and seaweed was minimal! I had no problem with my 9 & 5 year old swimming and floating in the water whereas even my mom said she wouldnt feel safe with them in the water down her way on Eagle beach! Go with the Marriott-i promise you will not be disappointed. We didnt want to leave!
