Meal Plan at La Cabana

My husband and I will be traveling to Aruba for the first time in August. We where thinking about purchasing one of the meal plans that they offer there at La Cabana. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it worth it? Are the restaurants any good? How is the food there?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

Dont Rent a car and experience the restaurants. Go to the grocery store and stock up on drinks and snacks. We own at LaCabana and have eaten at 2 or the restaurants. Better out on the island. It is an easy island to drive or take cabs or the bus.

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

The food is okay at LaCabana if you are looking for a snack during the day while relaxing by the beach or near the pool...I think one of the best parts about going on vacation, especially in Aruba, is the great places to eat and the food they serve...We are returning for our fourth year in a row and always return to a few of the same places and then try some news ones each year as well...We always eat outside of the resort...

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

We stay at La Cabana all the time. Don't get the meal plan. It's really not worth it. You will pay less if you eat out. There are so many excellent restaurants on the island.
Breakfast is good at La Cabana. For about $10.00, you can have omelets made and there's a buffet with pancakes, french toaast, fruit, danish, croissants, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, cereal, and more.
Lunch is also good on the premises. There's the Islander Grill and Pizza N Pastabilities. Go out for dinner. There are so many places within walking distance, and if you want to eat on Palm Beach or in town, you take a bus for $2.00 round trip.

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

LaCabana recently got new folks in the food services department. The Captains Table used to be very 'hit or miss' (mostly miss) but that may very well have changed.

It would be best to attend to the answers from people who have been there VERY recently.

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

Hi Natasha,

Do yourself a favor and do not get the meal plan. There are so many wonderful resturants in Aruba . Just read all the bulletin boards you'll see. Also if your on a budget..the Lacabana has kitchens in all their suites. There are supermarkets near by that have everything you can imagine. Eat in a few nites and spend the $$$$ doing activities on the Island. There's so much to see and do. It is a very diverse Island. You'll love it..and will be back I'll bet. A really nice experiance is next door to LaCabana at the Paridise Villa's. They have a Resturant called LePetit Cafe..check it out !! They cook on stone..well you do..Steak exactly how you like it..Madame Jeanetts, Tulip's. Also are favs. LaCabanas resturants are average. There are 3 Markets right on the main drag. We like Certified less expensive . Get an Aruba Advantage Plus Card and save yourself $$$$ on everything. Its only $10. Check it out at www.visitaruba.com.
Have fun...just returned from our 10th visit.

Re: Meal Plan at La Cabana

I would definitely not recommend this meal plan. My wife and I were just in Aruba for the first time and stayed at LaCabana through our timeshare. We did not eat at the hotel once. There are to many other good restaurants on the island and we did not see many people at the restaurant at LaCabana the whole week. We saw more poeple using the gas grills than at the restaurant.
