yes buy the device once at $30 and keep it for ever.
use it when you are in aruba and buy a plan that suits you best.
from what i have heard and read 4gb is the popular plan and as liz says that is about $40

it uses a cell signal, that is how it picks up the wifi.
so even if your resort is loaded with wifi modems/routers (i do not know the difference) from setar, the mio device will pick up the internet using a cell phone signal

i start my converstions with brighthouse (our wifi and cable co) the same way that you do!!

the last question I have, please be patient with me, is if where I stay they use setar as their internet but I use this mio or whatever it is just for my tablet, will it still work? I'm sorry if it sounds like I ask dumb questions but I truly truly am clueless when it comes to this stuff, lol.....don't worry, you will not insult me if you explain it to me like I am four years old, lol...I usually start all conversations with the tech people at Comcast when I call for help with that line.

thanks Andrea, so now if the internet isn't available at the townhouse, i'll just go and get the one at mios and then keep the device for future trips. actually, that kind of sounds like a good thing to do because if we don't stay there and stay somewhere else, I'm always good to go since it uses a cell signal and not internet.

thanks for clearing that up for me, I am so so clueless with all this technical stuff. but now I have options and superfoods is close to us (I'm always running there anyway)...

Are there any other fees associated with buying one of these? Activation, charger, etc.? We are taking our first trip to Aruba in 2.5 weeks and still trying to figure out the best way to get our iphones working without paying an arm and leg for one week. Does Mio always carry these in stock? Thanks!

I just got the Mio. It was like $17 for the device and charger and $40 for activation and then the plan I chose was around $33. My total was $90. Next trip it will only be $33 for the plan. The device worked great everywhere. We even used it as a gps with google maps when driving around.

Does anyone know what Mio's prices are now for 4gb? Is it still about 30 to 40 for a month? I know they stopped pro-rating the month when I was there last year.

I was checking out the website of MIO. I noticed they have four locations and one of them says "the Market" located at the Allhambra Mall. is that the little shopping center by the Allhambra Casino?
