Mill Resort

Hello,
I am looking for information on the Mill Resort's beach area. I realize the hotel is not directly on the beach. I am curious as to whether there are palapas or umbrellas of any kind and how large the beach area is.
Also any other info. on The Mill Resort will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Re: Mill Resort

Hi John The Mill's beach area is right next to the Wyndham. If you are at the Mill look up at the Wyndham and to the left of the hotel is the Mill's beach area. YOu can really stay on any part of the beach, it is not divided. If you want a Mill "umbrella" or "palapa" I think you go to their section of the beach.
The mill is across the street from the Wyndham. The Wyndham sits kind of up on a small rise.
Palm Beach which is the beach where the hi-rise section is is about 2 miles long. It starts at the Divi Phoenix then there is quite a large empty lot, then the Wyndham, and then the whole strip of hi-rises. I dont know exactly the names in order, but they are all along that stretch.( Marriot, Hyatt, etc etc) Good luck!

Re: Mill Resort

The beach area is right next to the Wyndam's. There are palapas, some square hut things big enough for a family and several nice shade trees. There are lounge chairs set up for you by the Mill beach staff who also provide towels at the hut. They sell canned soda, but there are no bathroom facilities. The beach is very nice and as it extends on down there is open beach (a police station is right there and no more high rises) until you go down aways to the Phoenix. It is usually not as crowded as the other hotel beaches. There is a good sized parking lot at the entrance to this beach. When the kids are in school they use this beach for swimming lessons. On weekends, many locals share this section too. This is not a problem and was fun to watch the kids. It is about a 5-7 minute walk across the street from the Mill, we had a car and usually drove over. We stayed at the Mill in October 2005 when there was some rough surf. The surf on Palm Beach was still pretty calm. This beach actually had less seaweed and erosion than most of the high rise beaches during this period. Of course, beach conditions change daily, so one person's experience can be different from others.

Re: Mill Resort

This was our third trip to Aruba, four of us including one teen. The Mill is a wonderful, quiet resort. The buildings surround the two pools which reduces the wind at poolside. The rooms were clean and well maintained; we had a three room suite on the second floor overlooking the pool.

The beach is a short walk away (<5min) and is very pretty, clean and clear water. There is an attendant from the hotel at the beach with towels and basic refreshments. I highly recommend snorkeling right off the beach, there are two rocky reefs with beautiful tropical fish. The service was excellent with two exceptions (slow waitress).

Housecleaning did a great job, and the bartender Rosa was fantastic. De Palm tours has a desk onsite as does Thrifty Car Rental. I strongly suggest you consider a taxi to and from the airport as De Palm was unable to get a "scheduled" bus (we confirmed our travel 24 hours prior) to our hotel in a 50 minute timeframe for our prepaid transfer back to the airport, and for US citizens you clear local Immigration and Customs as well as US Immigration and Customs before you board your plane home. You do not want to be late getting to the airport.
Would I consider the Mill Resort again? Absolutely. I think it would be especially accommodating for families with young children (0-12).

Enjoy..

Re: Mill Resort

My husband and I stayed at the Mill last March. It is very clean and met our expectations. The staff is very friendly. It is only across the street from the beach with no problems accessing the beach. They have a relatively small beach area where towels, chairs, and huts are provided. We were very pleased with the Mill. Can't be beat for the price.

Re: Mill Resort

Hi,

My husband and I stayed at the Mill in October for our honeymoon and the Mill does have its own towel hut and palm umbrellas to sit under. We went to the beach everyday and was always able to get one of the huts.

Re: Mill Resort

The Mill has a small beach, there is a towel hut that gives out chairs and towels to Mill guests. Ther are no palapas or umbrellas available. If you go early you may get one on the public beach that is right next to the Mill Towel Hut. There are some large trees for shade. We have always been able to find shade as my husband burns easily. The Mill is clean, the staff very, very friendly
and the pool area is nice area with palapas.
There is a small outdoor restaurant that serves a good breakfast, the also serve lunch and dinner at a reasonable price. The restaurant manager Rosa and wait staff Luis and Dalia are the best. The bar serves a good drink and they have a good hapy hour. The also have an all you can eat BBQ on wednesday night that is good. Skip the all you can eat seafood on friday. There are a few restaurant that are only 2 min walk that are good.
Rio for steak, Eleanors very small but good,
Dynisty (Arubian food) and the also have Ben and Jerry's for good ice cream. We have stayed at the Mill many times and enjoy it, you can not beat the price.
