It's unfortunate for the folks who only come here occasionally. Yes, there are a lot of mosquitoes but they do prefer the "new blood" and they seem to have got tired of my blood..thank goodness! My visitors just spray their legs, ankles, in particular with Off (Deet) and that definitely helps.

Now, they are .different from Canadian mosquitoes and a lot smarter too I'm sorry to say. They are smaller, much faster (you definitely can't whack them) and you don't know that you have been bitten until after the fact.

I had over 20 bites on my legs and feet.
We, too, ran into this when we were there for two weeks in January. I had brought with us a solid stick of Cutter repellent, but it didn't work! Had to break down and buy Off at the botica (much more expensive than here!) which worked well. As with Andrea, those little buggers went for our legs and feet and they snuck up on us so we never saw them!!!

We now will bring Off with us from home!

I feel for you with the mosquitos. Here we have the green headed fly and when there is a west wind blowing we don't even go to the beach. They think the bug spray is meat tenderizer.

I never noticed this before, but have only been to Aruba in April and May. Is this an all year thing or just a seasonal thing?

I haven't noticed this either. The one thing I do notice there is at night I hear the "bug truck" where they spray. Is that only at the hotels? Have mercy--better buy some spray. LOL I just want to hurry and get there. I sure hope I have the "old blood" LOL

Had "no see um's" in St Croix - not here...

But it's kinda a 'vague' term...

But there are 2 types of mosquitos - one in the day time that are small
and larger ones that come out at night.

You can 'see' the ones during they day and the ones in St Croix
    where ninja ones!

I have to say that for the past 6 years, we really didn't see a mosquito problem. The winds are usually pretty strong around the time of year we go, however, last year I did notice a BIG mosquito problem on our timeshare patio. We had changed rooms and were close to the pool and lagoon (at Divi Links). The standing water really does make a difference (as does the humidity - which is usually kept at bay with the wind). Needless to say, we will be packing the OFF this year. 17 more days till Paradise!!!!
