Well, if you want to sunbathe in the nude, you can in Aruba... If and only if you want to insult all of the native people to the island (plus many others). Arubans, for the most part, find this pratice offensive. If you really want to go out in the buff try st. lucia or one of the french islands.

Ibelieve at Sonesta beach it has two sides one of course for family and other for your request to go to that beach you have to go through Rennaisance hotel Quest of that Hotel gofree. But you can go if staying at another Hotel There is a small fee of $50 ea incl Lunch One drink and water sports equip. check it out it very pretty there and quiet.

Re: naturist beaches

I think you picked the wrong island, don't know of any beaches where this is allowed altho you might get away with on the QT. Try St. Marten, Orient Beach.

Re: naturist beaches

Of course you can nude sunbathe anywhere in Aruba. It is accepted by the locals - Remember the Dutch inhabited the island for years - Ya think they stayed covered up?? At Baby Beach it's widely accepted. - Check with your hotel, most have an area to go to. Don't listen to these "others". The "Happy Island" welcomes everyone - even the naysayers. Enjoy!

Re: naturist beaches

Senior Pedro as an Aruban I find your answer offensive and just a blatant lie.
NO, you cannot sunbathe naked in Aruba. While we are part of the Netherlands, we do have our own laws regarding topless and nude sunbathing. It is against the law. And I go to Baby Beach regularly and have never seen anyone sunbathe naked there.

And yes the Dutch do cover up here. It is only for the past few years that at the Bucuti and Manchebo you will see topless sunbathers (that's topless not naked!). Ten years ago it was just unheard off.

And just for your information, not all Dutch people automatically go topless or naked.

I personally believe Aruba should go back to doing things they want to do it, instead of being pushed into certain ways and customs by tourists. It is our island, respect our laws and customs.

Re: naturist beaches

hi Sandra, sorry if our request offended you, that was not the intention. We are normal people, have good jobs and enjoy as many good things in life as we can, that includes God's good sunshine, which your island certainly has ( we visited 4 years ago for a couple of weeks)and were not asking to flaunt ourselves naked in public places. We have been registared naturists for the last 3 years and were only looking for a quiet corner of a deserted beach to relax and get a decent all over tan, we understand that some people not want to do this and would not do it on any of the main beach. once again my apologies. I was looking forward to staying on the island again, but if people are now as unfriendly as you seem, maybe next time we will choose a different island.!!!!

Re: naturist beaches

Barry, your question did not offend me. It was Senior Pedro's answer that offended me (as you will see when you re-read my answer). Especially his remark about baby beach and that stereotyping of the dutch got my upset.

I understand that you would want to know something like that before coming to Aruba, and appreciate that you ask before you do get here. Instead of just strip on Eagle beach. ;-) That proves that you will respect our laws and customs.

The Renaissance island has a adult beach area, and I know nude sunbathing is done there at times, although it will probably be more topless alone.

So, once again, my answer was not directed at you but at this Pedro. No need to apologize as you did not offend me.

Re: naturist beaches

Barry and Philippa,
Maybe I am wrong but I do not think your request offended Sandra. You were politley asking a question that you wanted an answer to. I took it that her problem was with Senior Pedro whom she felt was giving you misleading information. I am sure you will enjoy your trip to Aruba and the friendly people there.
