Need Advise - First trip to Aruba

Trying to find a place to stay in August. We have only been to Cancun (we love it) and Bahamas (we hated it). I want this trip special because will be celebrating the big 25th wedding anniversary and it will be a surprise for my husband. We are 43/44 yrs. old, don't really want to party every night, but will be drinking every day, so ??? I would like to stay all-inclusive maybe DIVI or Tamarijn.. don't have to worry about carrying around money if staying on the grounds but have also checked out the Amsterdam which is not inclusive, but may be worth it. Any suggestions on other locations, room locations, pool, beach bar, beach service, etc. would be great. I want to adventure out, shopping, eating, bars, but where? And, what kind of liquor/beer is available?

We are Harley Davidson fans and thank goodness Auba HD has rentals and even a tour guide. See where my priorites are???? Thanks

Re: Need Advise - First trip to Aruba

my husband and i honeymooned at the divi all-inclusive. absolutely loved it! i would reccomend it over the tamarijn. the beach at the tam is rocky and you would have to walk to the area by the divi, anyway. they are next to eachother. the tamarijn seemed to have more younger couples and more families. we ended up buying in at the divi village across the street and will be going back for the fifth time this yr. try the flying fishbone for a romantic meal on the beach at sunset. get reservations for 6-6:15. about a 1/2 hr. cab ride from divi, but well worth it! jimmy's bar at the rock climbing wall serves up a tasty drink called the "brown lady." nice pool bar at the links across the street. congrats on your anniversary and what a wonderful surprise for someone you love! amanda

Re: Need Advise - First trip to Aruba

go to the black hog saloon's BBQ bash. free ride on a harley for females. Check nights they have it. It's by Adventure mini golf and arcade out behind Lacanaba resort area.

also go to carlos and charlies, bahia cafe, mambo jambo's, iguana joe's downtown and moomba's beach bar up by the holiday inn.

cyber cafe in royal plaza mall downtown has 25 cent per minute calls to USA and Canada if you need phone.

I am 44 and have been staying at the Occidental (all-inclusive) for the past 6 years. Leaving this Saturday for yet another wonderful vacation in Aruba. It is a great place. Everything is there and more.

Have you given any thought about staying at the Holiday Inn on Palm Beach ?

All Inclusive, nice beach and you're surrounded by several other resorts with casinos. The newly remodeled rooms at the Holiday Inn are really nice. We stayed in the Bonaire Tower with an Oceanfront room ... It certainly represents value.

Consider not doing AI. Such good restaurants on island. Some places do have a drink AI. I suggest renting a timeshare or Marriott, Radisson or Hyatt as nice places to stay.

Go to www.arubarentals.com click on rentals. I suggest renting a timeshare on palm beach,( divi aruba pheonix ) good choice.you can get one bedroom, one bath, livingroom, full kitchen, dinningroom, and relaxation.we have been staying there for seven years and would not change for NOTHING!!!!.outdoor bar, outdoor resturant,NICE beach( not crowded) and best of all not many kids.

Re: Need Advise - First trip to Aruba

We have been to Aruba 9 years and love many of the resorts. Divi or Tamaranjn(sp) are fine....also Playa Linda which is on Palm Beach...in the heart of the hotel district...many restaurants nearby...bus stop to downtown also nearby...beach bars etc. We never drive in Aruba...we enjoy happy hour and traffic is too much after a few drinks!!You do not need a car...and of course the motorcycles are available if you want to tour on one. The new Westin is good too..used to be Wyndham. Divi Phoenix is very nice, but much quieter than Divi. Hope this helps...have a great trip.
