Need information - Would like to travel last week of february or 1st week of march

    Hello everyone,

I've been to Aruba 4 times now, 3 times on cruises and 1 time for a full week at La Cabana 3-4 years ago(Timeshare).

First, I'd like to know if all those rumors I've heard about La Cabana in the past year or so are true, about it having changed a lot, new owners not nice, very noisy place now etc etc... Hearsay is one thing, reality is another. I'd welcome any comments on the situation there.

Also, I'd welcome any suggestion as to where I should be looking at going. I'm planning on going with my 2 teenagers and my wife, so a villa/timeshare would seem to me the best solution.

Are Madame Janette and Papiamento still open for business... can't wait to go back to those fantastic resturants ;-)

Thanks all for you input... Nice to see this forum is still working, as it was instrumental for me last time I came in knowing about the places to go for super food experiences

Both restaurants still open. Dinner at both in November. Can't really say which was better. Both outstanding. Probably lean to MJ's only because staff more fluent in English.

If you would like to e-mail me, I have a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen at the Surf Club from Feb 24 thru March 2 and a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen at the Ocean Club from Feb 23 thru March 1. These are Marriott properties and they are the nicest rooms on the Island. Kent Gerber E-mail: kentgerber@adamswells.com

lacabana brc is still nice and getting nicer!
unsure what you mean by "new owners"?
the villas out back now is named the "aruban" there was a divorce between the lacabana brc/lacabana villas.
now that the brc is not saddled with unpaid villa(out back) debt and burdens, the brc is making some headway on much needed updates.

a full brc unit renovation will begin soon

paul and i have stayed and owned there (the brc) for many yrs and we have seen many imporvements over the last 14 months!

i cannot speak for the "aruban resort" (aka villas), but all i know is they have huge plans for renovations, casino redo and adding another pool. they still are supplying their units to the "tour" companies such as APPLE, TNT, and other aruba wholesalers.

one of our moderators, liz-aruba lover is a frequent guest at the aruban.
maybe she will pop in and add her opinons of the renovation plans and any updates.
