Need some more help with a timeshare question.
If the property is deeded, how does one safely go about the transaction? Seller is talking "trust and good faith." That doesn't work for me. Do we need an Aruban attorney or closing company to hold the escrow/deed?
Seller is talking about paying the CDM fee for transfer himself, but I can't make a firm offer until I know what the process is and how much it costs.
Appreciate any help.

Here's a GREAT timeshare website that you should read first before buying (wish I had found it before we bought). www.tug2.net

A few things to think about b4 you buy a unit....
1. is the mantainance fee paid up in full ? Do they owe any back fee's
2. Is there a transfer fee, and how much?
3. How long is the balance of ownership left on the deed?
4. Documents should be notorized by both seller and buyer.
5. Get a copy of the by laws from the resort
6. Are you thinking of buying from the resort or an individual?
I will tell you buying a resale is a long, tedious, event. Nothing moves fast down there.
There is paperwork at the resort that needs to be registered. FInd out how the transfer is done and what guarantees you have.

We own at CDM and have never had an attorney or closing company when making a purchase or selling time. We come to an agreement with the other party, transfer fee signed and notarized by both parties, decide who will pay closing costs and that's it. We get a check from the purchaser and then send the transfer form along with our copy of the deed to the resort. After paper work is complete you will receive a deed in your name and you are a new owner. If the seller is willing to pay the fee there are no additional costs to you. Have been owners at CDM for over twenty years. Hope this helps. Deeds at CDM are for a lifetime. Check oit CDM website for more info. wwwcasadelmar-aruba.com. Takes time as nothing on the island moves quickly. We send all paperwork Fedex to the resort. That's the way it is done at CDM - don't know about other resorts. Good luck!

Since I don't know the seller, I wouldn't send a check directly. He said he would pay CDM transfer fee. I would pay fees if there was a safe middleman to collect money and deed and then make the transfer.

Don't sent money to a stranger!
Use an escrow agent.

I used myself the following TS escrow company many times.
They will do the escrow part only for $100.
