The main reason we don't know is that I don't want one; I don't want to be bothered. I have my bleeping phone (with e-mail and texting) on 24/7 for work
and one of the happiest moments of the trip is when I shut it off when boarding the airplane in Boston .Trouble brewin' in Paradise! ![]() PS - Post #800 for me!!

we have verizon wireless, had international calling turned on, no cost. it's cheaper than calling from the island when checking in at home, plus our kids can call us if needed. not many people have our number so we are not bothered while relaxing keeping the workers at balashi busy!

I always used to use my own phone (T-Mobile) in Aruba because I don't use that many minutes and most of the cell phone rental places would cost me more per week (because they give you alot of minutes) than if I just used my own phone.
Well, I talked to Discount Cell and told them that I don't use that many minutes when I'm there for 17 days in Sept. and they worked with me to give me a plan that was do-able for both of us. Very nice people. They will also pick up and deliver the phone to your hotel. Contact Trees at: http://www.arubadiscountcell.com

Rob,Don't call your neice.I had Verizon turn my phone international FREE BUT each minute was $1.99 and 3 weeks cost me over $400.00.I called and got a small credit for trying to call my VM which I couldn't get into.So is it worth that? I am trying to figure before April???She will be with us but Rick won't be so the good old red pay phone looks better.Judy

I rent with Fastphones. Bell Canada is either too expensive or won't work here. Plus, I don't want to ruin my phone from the sand, etc.
$50 a week gets you a phone rental and approx. 84 minutes of talk time (local and long distance). Anyone can call you as incoming are free. You can purchase additional minutes for approx. $15 for one hour of talk time. We like the phone, not just for the obvious reasons, but our kids go out on their own at night and it gives them a way of keeping us informed of their wereabouts. |
