    Need some breezes

Still very little wind here and that makes each day hot. Maybe if everyone on the island, tourists and locals, got together and ate a couple of cans of baked beans at the same time we could have a community effort at wind making.

That brings a question to mind.... is there any smell around Amsterdam/LaCabana when there are no breezes?

Okay, I have almost zero sense of smell but I can assure you my wife smells just fine. If we smell the stench in Feb will will depart LaCabana so fast it would not be funny. We would leave any resort, even when paid in full.

Jay.... should be OK..... at Amsterdam Manor 18 months ago... we mighta had a marginal 'wiff' once or twice... and La Cabana is even further from the treatment plant.

When we visited Jackie and her family this past summer you could not smell anything at that point. I don't anticipate any issues to be honest with you. I am hoping it works out great. We need to find a place to visit over Christmas next year. My son wants to celebrate his 8th birthday in Aruba. We are spending Xmas day with my sister and her family this year and my son's response the other day when we chatted about Xmas day was, I have no desire to do that- lets go to Aruba instead.

The smell has more to do with rain than no breeze. With higher than average rainfall, any infiltration into the sewer system means more water has to be treated at the treatment plant. All systems have some infiltration, even the most up to date ones. We do what we can to mitigate the problem, but big rainfall events always lead to more inflow to the treatment plant. The smell sometimes come from the plant being overwhelmed and not able to keep up with demand.

Anywhoooo...Jay, I'm with you. We had a bad experience with the smell a couple years ago that was enough for us to be willing to sacrifice a prepaid reservation. It all worked out in the end and we were refunded. I tend to think that Aruba just wasn't ready for Andrea and I to have a full happy hour together so the universe intervened and made us cut it short
