So, we found out this past weekend that we will indeed be returning to Aruba next January 1st! My parents have a timeshare at the Marriott and put in for St. Kitts, just for a new experience, no dice. And we also have tried to get into the Ocean club for a change from the Surf, but so far, no go either.
I personally don't care where we stay, anywhere that isn't CT in January, is good with me! ![]() Usually the group is my husband and I, my sister & her boyfriend and my mom & stepdad...this year my sis and her bf can't go so it will be a bit of a change. That's ok though, more Balashi for us! And with the group being a bit smaller, we might have less "trouble" deciding on what to do & when-only 4 opinions instead of 6. Somehow the younger sister always got her way LOL![]() Now all I have to do is set up my new ticker for the countdown to paradise to begin! Last edited by mjn109; 06-10-2010 at 09:55 AM. |

I've been watching the airfares for New Year's 2011 and the prices are still obscene. They were up around 1300 EWR - AUA and now down to around $900. We spent under $500 a ticket last year and willing to go up to around $700 this yr. Hopefully the prices will decline, because we had soooo much fun in Aruba over New Year's 2010.

Yes Sunnysmiles it is great to have a trip planned-something to dream about and look forward to!
Arent the flight prices crazy Shndya?? I do hope they come down to a reasonable price for you! We are fortunate that this trip is our Christmas present from my parents so our airfare is covered; we could NEVER do it on our own. We are very lucky people! ![]() Last edited by mjn109; 06-10-2010 at 09:55 AM. |

We couldnt afford to get out to Aruba 3 or 4 times a year if my in-laws hadn't purchased a 2nd home and a car down there a few years ago and are generous enough to let us use the place whenever we want. Only having to pay airfare makes Aruba the cheapest vacation we can take.

That is wonderful that they have a place for you guys to stay at! It does make the vacation that much more affordable and even more special because you are in someones home rather than a hotel. My aunt & uncle built a house down there a few years ago as well and we always meet up while we are there for dinner one night. They always offer for us to stay there in the summer months, of course they are up in Maine enjoying the cooler sea breeze there, but we have not taken them up on that offer as of yet. I am thinking about as I type though since a 90 degree day in Aruba is WAY better than a 90degree day in CT!

Blue Carribean Water = Always better than gray atlantic ocean.

We are also looking at New Years Eve this year instead of our usual 2 weeks in Sept. Right now airfare for us (MSP-ATL-AUA) is $644. I've never priced NYE before so I'm not sure if that's as low as it will go or if I should wait and watch a little bit more and see if it gets into the 500's. Normally we pay about $460-$480 when we go to Aruba in April/May and Sept.
